Default OK, Forum experts, I need your HELP!!

The set-up:

Samsung BD-P1600
Samsung PN50B550
Onkyo HTR-667
Directv DVR

Everything is hooked up via HDMI and I am using the reciever as the main source to pump all the info. Recently with the purchase of the TV/BD player listed I have been experiencing the dreaded "no signal" message on the TV and the reciever when wanting to watch a BD movie. I've tried moving the cables to a different port and it still does the same thing. Sometimes it seems the player needs to warm-up before it connects the video feed. Watching DTV I have no issues at all w/ signal connection. What is pissing me off is I am at a loss of wondering what the problem is.

A: Bad BD player
B: Bad Reciever

My old set-up was with an Hitachi rear projection TV and the Magnovox BD player. I never experienced any problems with the reciever when I had those items running with HDMI with the onkyo reciever.

Now back to the new stuff:
I have connected the BD player directly to the TV via HDMI and the connection is instant. However if I do this, then I cannot enjoy full HD surround. So I wonder would this product from monoprice work in my favor
1X2 PRO Series Powered HDMI Splitter (1.3b ATC Certified). I also just purchased new HDMI 1.3a cat 2 cables from monoprice as well.

If anyone out there can help me resolve my problem it would be greatly appreciated. I've only got basic home theatre skills and this one is really got me raving mad because at the end of the day I just want things to work the way they are supposed to. It's never an easy fix, but I just need to figure out if If this can be fixed fairly cheaply or must I invest in a new reciever or different brand BD player.....
