Talking The Thai Dave Chappelle? No More Ong Bak For You! Tony Jaa Becomes.......

.......a monk.

"Asian action star Tony Jaa has quit the film industry reports Twitchfilm.

According to the site, the actor rode an elephant to a temple in Surin, Thailand, where he shaved his head, took vows, and was officially ordained as a Buddhist monk late last week.

However Jaa's time away is not being seen as a permanent move, and the expectation is he will not remain in the monastery forever.

Why would he do this? Well Twitchfilm also have a long but utterly fascinating possible explanation involving failed film projects, contractual obligations, Jaa's previous two month disappearance and more."

Tough break. I have heard various rumors and read various articles which described his current contract and that he was basically nothing more than what many would describe as an indentured servant to the studios. The studios took a majority of his profits, and at one point while filming Ong Bak 2, I even read that he was homeless and couldn't even afford an apartment or hotel room to stay in. I'm not sure how much truth lies in some of the articles I read, but it sounds like things were not very good for him in his current position.

Well, whatever he chooses to do, good luck to him. Tony Jaa is an all star in my book!

Not sure if I'll miss him, can't really remember what I've seen him in, checking IMDb.

I wonder what this means for Ong Bak 3 (or is it already completed?). And what's with the Dave Chapelle reference? Did he go crazy and become a monk, too?

According to imdb, Ong Bak 3 was already released in Thailand on May 5th.

Remember how Chapelle went mia after his show became huge? He bolted to Africa (not joking).

Wiki: "Season 3 was scheduled to air on May 31, 2005, but in that month, Chappelle stunned fans and the entertainment industry when he abruptly left during production of the third season of Chappelle's Show. Chappelle has since stated that he was unhappy with the direction the show had taken, claiming pressure from network executives regarding the show's content. Chappelle left the United States to visit South Africa. His decision to visit South Africa while leaving the public in the dark regarding the details about his absence triggered reports of drug problems. Chappelle gave an interview to Time Magazine's South African bureau chief. Chappelle denied any drug or mental problems but stated that his reasons for visiting South Africa were to reflect on his life and career."
