Yeah I noticed the drives I saw at Frys (Lite on, HP, Pioneer, etc) none mentioned 50GB.... The Sony doesn't either?

Although the Sony is the most widely available 50GB capable burner, there are others:

Sony BWU-100A -- EIDE -- 2x
Panasonic SW-5582 -- EIDE -- 2x (OEM) -- Retail versions by Plextor, IO-DATA, and others
LG GGW-H10N -- SATA -- 4x (BD burner/HD DVD reader)
Panasonic UJ-225 -- USB 2.0 -- 2x (external notebook-sized drive)

The Philips, Lite-on, and Pioneer drives are NOT compatible with 50GB recordable media, though they were "rumored" to be at various points.

The upcoming LG GGW-H20N 6x BD burner / HD DVD reader will also have 50GB support, and is due in September. The upcoming Benq BW1001, and second-gen Lite-on and Panasonic burners are rumored to support 50GB discs, though information isn't finalized on those. They are all exepcted in the next few months.

<Begin shameless plug.> I have a blog page here with specs on all the released and announced BD burners. </end shameless plug>
