Best Buy Blu+DVD?

I just went to Best Buy and saw both Fargo and Silence of the Lambs in Blu+DVD packages. When did the start happening?

What other Blu-rays out there now include the DVD as well that didn't before???

Good question. I got Silence of the Lambs on BD as a 2009 Christmas gift and there was not a DVD in the box.

Sam's club has these also. I don't remember which titles, but they had a half dozen or so.

Doing some searching on Best Buy and Amazon's website I see the following Blu+DVD new packages:

- Terminator
- Dodgeball
- Napoleon Dynamite
- Super Troopers
- Misery
- Kalifornia
- Usual Suspects
- Hoosiers
- many more... can't list them all

Who knows which of these you can actually buy in the store today?

Are these the ones that are in the old style DVD cases? I don't understand why they don't use blu-ray cases for these.

Amazon is showing that some are the old DVD cases, but I am not sure if that's accurate or not. I am going to Best Buy later today to see for myself if I can.

If they are the old cases then I definitely won't buy them.

The Terminator, Dodgeball, Napolean Dynamite, Misery, Super Troopers, The Usual Suspects, Hoosiers, Never Say Never Again, Igor, Night At The Museum, Bulletproof Monk, Robocop, The Last Waltz, Windtalkers, Hart's War, Rocky, Speed, and A Bridge Too Far are all available now on DVD+BD combo sets. These are packaged in DVD cases and priced in line with the DVD only releases. The idea is you buy the DVD and get the BD free when you upgrade to HD.

MGM/Fox has also repackaged and lowered the price for earlier BD+DVD combos including Road House, The Graduate, Walking Tall, Rollerball, and Out of Time. Again, these are listed as DVD+BD combos and come in DVD cases.

MGM seems to have made the decision to have Fox do combo release going foward for their catalog titles so Showgirls, The Man in The Iron Mask, Kalifornia, Escape From New York, Blood Simple, and Bull Durham are all BD+DVD combo sets in Blu-ray Disc cases.
