Looks great, like a return to form. I have not touched an mk game since 3 but this one might bring me back.

This looks good. It seems like Mortal Kombat II 2010. I really haven't played many video games since the mid 90's, my last game consold was the N64 and the last MK video game I played was MK4, but this one looks good. A lot of the familiar stages from the first 3 Mortal Kombat games, plus all the familiar characters. The design of these stages look great.

Believe me, you didn't miss anything. The 3D MKs weren't good. Instead of being focused on doing what MK does best, they tried to add depth to the series (three fighting styles and dial-a-combo gameplay), but in the end they just felt flat and uninspired. The Fatalities weren't all that good either.

It's great to see MK going back to its roots. Like you said, MKII 2010. And that's a very good thing.

Umm MK Deadly Aliance was very good actually. MK3 started the dial A Kombo. Deadly Aliance had the opposite.

I actually really liked Deception, although they neutered Kabal from what he was in MK3. Deception felt a little more polished than Deadly Alliance (to me anyway). Armageddon was just ridiculous.

yeah, I liked Deadly Alliance. Deception was okay. Armageddon was just overkill. By that point, I was bored with the fighting system. It was in dire need of a complete overhaul.

Deadly Alliance removed the familiar controls in favor of a greater reliance on dial-a-combo gameplay. DA and Deception were trying to be what the other big-name fighters were rather than just being Mortal Kombat.

And no, it wasn't as good as the classic MK games. Which is what I meant when I said they "weren't good."

Do you know what dail a combo means?

Deadly Aliance is the exact opposite.

Dail a combos are predetermined canned button commands that result in combos. This was started in mk3 and used in umk3, trilogy, and mk4.

In DA you could literally create your own combos.

I personally like that it's going back to dial a combos because mk doesn't have the grappling system to be a truly competive 3d fighter without them.

Uh, no. DA had pre-determined canned combo strings. And the bad thing about them was that punches and kicks weren't tied to any particular button.

Look, I'm not arguing that you couldn't throw a punch and then a kick and call it a combo. You certainly could. But it never felt as natural as the 2D MKs because of the lack of button association.

This looks great. It might just bring me back to the franchise I once loved more than any other. Oh the nostalgia.

you could definately create combo strings via switching styles mid combo. sounds like you didn't play it much. everybody (players) in mk2 and 3 did the same kombos .

I put a lot of hours into DA, thank you very much.

Let's just say that we're both right (cause, from different points of view, we are) and get back to the new MK? What do ya say?

Anyway, I'd rather talk about the way the new trailer ended. Or maybe not.

Same here. I can't stop watching the trailer. It just looks so awesome!

(By the way, I edited my previous post to remove what I last said on "that other discussion." Admittedly, I shouldn't have said that before calling an end. So it's gone.)

Anyway, I heard this game isn't coming until 2011? I hope that's wrong. I want my MK, ASAP.
