Default The Red Violin - Blu-Ray release

This is a bit off topic, so I apologize.

I saw this at HMV the other day for only $14.99. Does anyone know if it's identical to the US release? It looks like it doesn't include any of the extras that were on the last DVD release.

Thanks!

Its an Alliance release, which is rarely a good thing. This would explain the lack of extras.

There is no US blu-ray release. This is an exclusive disc to Canada, that is unfortunately bare bones. I have the last SE DVD though, so I'm covered lol.

It says "Import", so it is in fact the Canadian disc. No US disc has been released or announced as of yet.

Can you give us a mini-review of the AV quality? Real 1080p film-like and detailed? lossless sound etc.?

thanks!

Does anyone actually own this release? I've had it pre-ordered from Amazon for some time now. Ever since June 8 (its purported street date) they've had it listed as "temporarily out of stock". I'm aware it's an import, but I've not had a single issue or delay in ordering DVD imports from Amazon before. Mine still hasn't shipped, so I suppose I'll find another source.

I don't mind that it doesn't have any special features, I simply want the film in all the 1080p glory it deserves. Even when it does see release in the States, it's highly likely they'll simply port the features from the Meridian Collection release to the Blu in SD. It's a common practice for all studios. It's doubtful we'll see any newly produced or even HD features, but I desperately hope I'm proven wrong!

Nice, Amazon currently has a handful of copies in stock if anyone is interested. My copy is on the way, I'll report back on the transfer when I receive it.

It is 5.1 DTS-HD MA. You should not be disapointed in getting this movie. I really enjoyed the sound and the picture can be distracting with the depth of color and detail - I found myself survaying the rooms and not necessarly reading the subtitles for the storyline. The music is flush with color and movement. I am a sound junkie and this movie dose not disapoint.

And the story is good too!
