If I download Castlevania SotN can the download game share the same saves as the actual hard cd copy?
Also, do you think we will see a lot more and more PS1 titles on the store? Is Sony focusing any effort on this atm? I would love to see games like Vandal Hearts 1+2, Final Fantasy Tactics, and many other PS1 classics on all levels hit the store. I can't imagine it is that hard to port a CDrom game from a PS1 disc to a download version. Would be really nice to have tons of classic games and new games all on your HD. |

He's talking about the full version of a PlayStation game on CD-ROM and the same full game downloaded from the PlayStation Store. Are the saves compatible?
I don't have the games to test unfortunately but downloaded PSone games do save on 'internal PSone memory cards' just like the CD-ROM versions. Some download PSone games may be modified to work better with the software emulator, that doesn't necessarily mean they'd change the save files but it's a possible reason they'd be incompatible. I don't have SotN on disc to check, but I don't see why they'd be incompatible. It's still a PS1 title (in fact, if you play it on your PS3 - and I have - the save files have to go into a PS1 virtual memory card on the HDD), and transferrable to a PS1 card via the memory card adaptor. They haven't added anything to the game, so in theory the game saves should be identical.

I think it would be compatible. I have one PS1 game disk (Tempest X3) and its game save shows up on my virtual PS1 memory card whenever I save my progress in Castlevania: SOTN. So it doesnt matter if its a game disk or download, it still will access the memory card in the same fasion.

The games on the PS store are a direct rip from the actual game. I'd be willing to bet the saves will work no problem.
