Default Software

I just purchased a home with an unfinished basement where I want to build my dream theater. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on software to use in the planning stage. When I search, all the information I find is 5 years old (or older).

Not sure what you mean by 'planning'? Do you mean something to do floor plans or model rooms? Try Google Sketchup. It's free and easy to use. It really helped me 'visualize' what my room could look like.

Floor plans. My basement is one big room with concrete walls, a single outlet, and hook-ups for a bathroom.

I want something where I can mark where walls go, mark wire paths, placement of AV equipment, placement of furniture, etc.

Then I think, for the cost and the features, Sketch-up will do the trick.
