Default Sammsung TV died :( Now what?

Hey guys. Worse news ever. (well, tv home theater related wize)

So i shut off my tv, go take a shower and when i come back it wont turn on. Just the little red light in the corner blinks (the on/off light)

So i call up PC richards (the store i got it from 2 years ago, and have the extended protection plan) and there sending down a guy on friday to fix it or get it replaced (hope to get it replaced if possable)

Question is, has this ever happend to you guys? the tv is slightly over 2 years old. never had any major problems with it till this. Thing was treated like it was solid gold (even though it only was a 40 inch 720p native set)

I go online and read alot of samsungs have this issue. they last for so long then poof they die on ya.

If i do got to get it replaced, i only go 1050 to spend on a new one (the price i paid for this one.)

Not enough for a new 3d set (how ever i still will be getting one come october) but, prehaps another brand is in order.

For my birthday i got a sony set, loved it except for really distracting flashlighting in the corner, and i wasnt a fan of the 120 Hz mode which even with it off, made everything too smooth and fast looking, so i returned it

(pirates of the carribbean 1 on blu ray when jack sails into the docks looked so fast i thought it was on fast foward but it was the way the tv processed the image)

Plasma's im still iffy about, esp if its not a 3d set. I just dont see myself ever using a plasma other then strict movie watching, cause im paranoid about burn in. (in october i might get me the 50 inch pannasonic 3d tv and the 40 inch samsung 3d set too, use one strictly for movies, one for 2d-3d conversion and video games)

What do you guys recomend for a decent 40 inch set?

i'd be willing to bet this thread is what is wrong w/your tv.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/lcd-tvs/13...sung-lcds.html

mine did the same thing. the transistors they are using are too small and they go bad after about 1 1/2 to 2 years.

He fixed the tv in the house?

I got no real major issues with plasma's. I have every intention of buying the 3d 50 inch panasonic in adition to the samsung led 40 inch 3d set too.

yep....popped the back off and it was 1 or 2 small transisters that he replaced.

they were shorter than a AA battery but about the same thickness.

i had best buy's 4 year warranty so it costed me $0....i asked the guy he said it would've cost me close to $200 otherwise.

Plasma problems are of the past. It is a shame ppl still think all these issues continue. Myself and 3 of my friends have plasma and no burn in at all. Much better picture also.

So true. I have friends who game constantly on their Panasonic plasmas, and not a hint of burn in. And the picture on a plasma absolutely cannot be beat.
