This was one of the pilots I was interested in that just did not end up being picked up by it's original network. But A&E must be very happy with what they saw, and I think it would make a good addition to the scripted line-up which currently only includes The Glades. I loved this cast already; Jackie Jr from the Sopranos, Herc from the Wire, Fenix from Fast and Furious, Sullivan from the Unit, and today's latest addition being the insanely gorgeous Serinda Swan, I am most definitely going to check this out when it hits the air.

Rejected Fox pilot Breakout Kings has found new life on A&E. Sources confirm that the cabler has picked up the highly regarded hourlong drama for 13 episodes.

Created by Nick Santora and Prison Break‘s Matt Olmstead, the show revolves around a group of U.S. marshals and ex-cons that team up to apprehend escaped criminals. It stars Jason Cerbone, Domenick Lombardozzi, Laz Alonzo, Malcolm Goodwin, and Nicole Steinwedell.

And well I couldn't resist posting this images of Serinda so I just included her casting announcement from today.

Serinda Swan has landed a key role on A&E's "Breakout Kings."

Swan ("Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief") will play series regular Erica Reed, an expert at finding people who don't want to be found -- then killing them.

"Breakout Kings," about a team of former cons working with U.S. marshals, was developed at Fox, where it tested well but didn't land a series order. A&E snatched up the show in June and ordered 13 episodes.

Yeah me too, it was weird because the pilot tested very high apparently and was an early favorite among critics, but FOX dubbed it to be "not on brand" so they didn't pick it up. I think it will be a great fit on A&E. Who knows between the Glades and Breakout Kings, the network could be making their way among the respected networks like what AMC did. They might continue to turn out top quality entertaining tv for cable.

show has potential but santora and olmstead are pretty bad writers

i mean they have a ton of ideas but they both lack the ability to write with the future in mind

look at prison break

the show started off great but by season 4 it was absurd

michaels mother is alive?
linc and michael arent brothers
sucre has a baby 3 months after maricruz is pregannt
mahone stops heroine withdrawlas cold turkey

maybe this show will be different since its not serial but i just dont like these guys style

This is the show I was way more excited about when it and Chase where announced. Featuring a far more superior cast, and a network that is very likely to renew it as opposed to everything on network. There is no way I'm not immediately interested.

Breakout Kings was passed over by fox and then beat the odds and found a second life on A&E, which picked it up with a 13-episode order. The show about a team of U.S. marshals and a group of convicts who race against the clock to apprehend escaped prisoners, was created by Prison Break alums Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora, a connection that is played up in the promo. Laz Alonso, Domenick Lombardozzi, Malcolm Goodwin, Jimmi Simpson and Brooke Nevin star; Fox21 and Chernin Entertainment produce.

For me the worst part was the more it progressed the less interesting the characters in Prison Break became. If it wasn't for T-Bag the later seasons would be unwatchable. Well Morgan and Mahone were okay too.

'Breakout Kings' poised to revive 'Prison Break' baddie

Talk about a no-brainer: Former Prison Break producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora are courting Robert Knepper to appear in their new A&E fugitive-themed drama Breakout Kings. The best part? The plan is for Knepper to resurrect his classic PB convict T-Bag!

According to sources, execs at 20th Century Fox — the studio behind Prison and Kings — have signed off on the crossover. Now a deal just needs to be hammered out with Knepper, whose killer PB alter ego was sent back to the slammer in the show’s series finale.

Kings, which is described as an “action-packed ensemble drama following an unconventional partnership between the U.S. Marshals’ office and a group of convicts as they work to catch fugitives on the run,” received an 11th hour reprieve last spring from A&E after Fox opted not to pick it up. It’s set to premiere in early 2011.

I really wish this concept on pick up of dead shows would catch on. I mean there are plenty of shows on network tv that just really are not made for network tv, and they get cancelled because of mediocre ratings. Those mediocre ratings however are actually great ratings on cable. Plenty of shows could have probably done well on cable but they never got the chance because they made their debut on a network. This happens occasionaly but not enough. Esepcially in the case of a network like NBC or Fox who also run great cable channels like USA or FX respectively.

Breakout Kings will be premiering March 13th on A&E. Never heard of this shoe before but it seems like a cool concept so I will be tuning in.

I'm definitely turned off on the fact that they are including a Prison Break cast member, that show was beyond ridiculous, go to prison, break out of prison, go to prison, break out of prison, go to prison and since T-Bag is on this show, yet again he breaks out of prison. For me that is already 2 strikes against it, so it's going to take one hell of a pilot to keep me watching.

Yeah I'm not real happy a Prison Break character is in this as that show was just beyond awful and I heard nothing good about it from the plot to the acting so I am worried about that but that's about it so far. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint and we get a trailer soon.

It's been reported that Robert Knepper's arc as T-Bag on this show will be for 4 episodes.

I'm more disappointed that Nicole Steinwedell (Red Cap/Bridget Sullivan on The Unit) was dropped from the show after A&E bought it.

I know Prison Break was a ridiculous show, but I was a huge fan and I liked Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora's work on that show and have high hopes for this one. Remember originally this screened really well at FOX and was being considered as a series for them this past Fall.

FINALLY! We have a trailer with actual footage. This show looks a lot better than I expected and a whole hell of a lot better than that piece of crap on NBC "Chase" there as a lot of familiar faces in this trailer and I will definitely be checking out the premiere in 4 weeks.

Good trailer and will also be checking out the premiere when it airs. Looks better then what I thought coming from the Prison Break guys.

Me too, but they could always be playing ninja with us and make it Prison Break 2.0 in which case I couldn't get off that sinking ship any faster lol.

Yeah I really hope they don't try to turn this into another Prison Break after awhile.
