Oh, A Prophet, without a doubt. It is truly an epic crime-drama. I've never seen The Secret In Their Eyes, and I'm sure it's good, but A Prophet is a movie I can pop in at any time. It's a masterpiece.

Ive seen both... 'the secret in their eyes' without a doubt .After all there is a reason why 'a prophet' was nominated for the oscar (best foreign film) but 'the secret in their eyes' won the oscar. The secret in their eyes is a very unique film, its one of those movies that drops you in the middle, then takes you to the begging, then back to the present, then to.... It also has this plot within a plot, a love story within the drama/crime story. I could keep going on and on about this movie. Now dont get me wrong 'a prophet' is also a good movie. It has a great ending, some intense and very well acted scenes. However, in my opinion, it is a very slow movie. Either way, you cant go wrong.

Looking forward to a Prophet, but did see The Secret in Your Eyes and really enjoyed it. I've also only heard really good things about a Prophet so my answer would be Both!!

I'm going to cheat and say both too, simply because they are so cheap on Amazon right now. Being Sony Pictures Classics titles it'll probably be a long time before we'll see them at that price again. They normally hover a bit under $30 and rarely drop much in price, so at $15 each you're almost getting one of them for free.

'Secret' is a more accessible film that is easier to watch, more conventionally satisfying but you wont be thinking back on it much. 'Prophet' is more brutally stylized and challenging to watch and demands rumination after it is over.

Un Prophet is the superior film by quite a long shot in my opinion. Secret In Their Eyes has some great pieces in it (boy, that stadium scene is epic), but by the end it is a tad too melodramatic for my taste.

neither. if your funds are so low that you actually have to choose between
two movies, i think you should definitely save your money instead....
or finding other sources of income rather than watching films!?

When was the last time the Academy got this category right? 2000?

I prefer A Prophet, but they are both quite good, so you can't go wrong. Enjoy!

I disagree. Some of us have budgets, and have a certain dollar amount dedicated to movies. OP might be a billionaire, but only wants to spend $20 on movies this week(or month)
