Default Lord of War not working on PS3?

OK, I got a copy of Lord of War blu ray from netflix today and it wouldn't work on my PS3. It was giving an error that read something like video format not supported or something close to that. Anyways to those that have a PS3 do you have this problem too or it is just a isolate issue with my console. This is the first time a blu ray movie has not work for my PS3. My PS3 is the 40GB version with the latest 2.41 update.

The disk won't play on my PS3. When I put it in, it detect it as a blu ray movie like usual but once it click on it to play it trys to load and goes into the black screen with a spining circle loading icon to the upper right of the screen, it trys really hard to load, but then backs out to the XMB. And it gives my an error message that reads something like video/format not supported. On a side note the disk doesn't not have any scratch. Is it possible that this is a bad copy?

A while back my shootemup did not boot either. I assumed it was the 2.40 F/W download causing it. When 2.41 came out it still did not boot up. I noticed one single fingerprint, gave it a wipe, re inserted the disc into the machine and it worked straight away.

Look around the edges of the disc even for the slightest finger prints.

Its most likely the disk. Ive had to send one back to netflix because i kept getting this weird error code or something. The next disk worked. I own Lord of War also, works fine for me..

I own Lord of War also and it works fine on mine as well (60-gig PS3). Like the others said, it's probably just a bad disc. It's a little surprising you don't see any scratches or anything though.

Yep! it's the disk. I put in Lady in th Water blu (also from netflix) and it also didn't work. I checked and it had weird scratches on it. Lord of War probably have the something similar to it but it was late last night so I must of overlooked it. Damn, this sucks 2 of 3 disk didn't work.

I would never put a rented Blu in my PS3
I remember how crappy looking DVD's from renting stores used to be. People simply rents movies and handles the discs in a poorly manner.
If I wanna try a movie hmm ... I know how on the net. If I really like it, I buy the Blu

Your PS3 obviously loves you and is sparing you the torture of watching the movie.

Watched Lord of War last night, and it froze for a second or two in multiple spots. Not a huge deal. Rented from Netflix, and played on a PS3.

I watched it on my PS3 with no problem. Although afterwards, I got the error that wouldn't let it play any more Blu-Ray's.
