Normally I wouldn't think this would deserve a new thread, but it's a bit different this time. As bolded below, typically some can usually play and sign on during maintenance events, but not access the store or their account. But Sony says this week, NOBODY gets online and anyone online gets kicked off at 8am Pacific.

Good points. They usually wait until right before and say "oh btw guyz psn down for 8 hours starting in 20 mins thx 4 understanding!"
And at least its not on a launch day like tomorrow (SSX woo!) Quote:

Regular server maintenance and upgrades. It's not uncommon for IT networking departments to do their "housekeeping" on Thursday nights. I know Time Warner does it, as well as a few e-tailers.

![]() If I had my choice, I'd have them do it Sunday night, something like 10pm-noon Pacific. I have to imagine that's the time with the lowest number of people online, before Monday morning work/school. For Europe it would be 4am-6pm, and while that is less ideal, at least they could play after work that evening. Also, it is irregular for Sony to completely kick everyone off for server maintenance. They have done it 3 or 4 times so far this year with just account/store/home unavailable, so one would naturally assume this is a bigger maintenance thing. |
