Great news. I'm still buying even though it will have some DNR and people will overexagerate how bad it is.

Hopefully its not DNR city on this transfer though.

This is Universal we are talking about, I am guessing this will be on par with Sixteen Candles in terms of their use of DNR and overall picture quality. I have gotten use to having extremely low expectations for catalog products from Universal, unless it is a newer release it's most likely going to be a DNR mess they call an HD release.

It is a shame they treat their catalog products like they do, either they are that dumb believing it looks better, or simply do not give a shit figuring people will buy anything that is released on Blu-Ray regardless of PQ.

At 7:17 of the movie Gary says:

"Very Nice.

I'm telling you Wyatt, one thing I know is female stats.

Anything more than a handful, you're risking a sprained tongue."

This is intact on the Image Entertainment release.

On the Universal release (which has the original music soundtrack restored) the following is missing (however the line appears via closed captioning):

"Very nice.

I'm telling you Wyatt, one thing I know is female stats."

The rest of the dialogue is present.

Hopefully this missing dialogue is restored for the eventual Blu-ray release.

They really need to restore the missing line of dialog.

Also, I remember seeing some extended scenes on a tv broadcast I saw many years ago. I seem to remember a scene early on when they're first coming up with the idea - I can't remember exactly but the shaving in the bathroom scene has more dialog if I am remembering correctly. I'm sure the tv footage won't appear in the film as an extended cut but at least it would be nice if the scenes were included as extras.

I always thought he said 'thumb', hah. I do hope the transfer turns out great, as this is one of my old favs.

For what it's worth, the HD broadcast on HDNet did have that line restored ("If there's one thing I know, it's female stats.") and the original music.

HBOGo has Weird Science available for streaming and the missing dialogue is present. I believe it was also present the last time I checked it on Netflix, but that was months ago.

Hopefully this bodes well for the Blu-ray.
