I am new to the blu ray culture and this forum. I am reading posts that are at least 2 years old (and older). The original posts from 2 years ago are warranted- dont get me wrong...however, times change in the ever changing blu ray world. Lets keep up with only the current posts within the past one year.

I disagree. Sure some info gets outdated, but for users interested in purchasing used gear, older threads may hold a wealth of info. In addition, some of the technical discussions (such as Big Daddy's set-up guides and other somewhat HT 101 stuff) stay relevant over time.
Typically, older threads will fall off the main page of whichever sub-forum you are in. If you are searching for something in particular, you just have to be careful to check the date of the last post. Though don't feel like you can't bump an older thread up if you have a legitimate reason for doing so. Finally, welcome to BD.com! |

I agree and disagree it's really annoying to see 3+ year old threads get bumped because someone answers a question that was solved years ago or just replies something stupid. On the other hand there are a number of old threads with useful information that shouldn't go.

Threads older than 1 year with no recent activity (say 6 months) should probably just be closed so no one can resurrect them from the dead.
But they should NEVER be deleted just because they are old. |

The Blu ray technology is ever changing / evolving .....why should people study posts from 2 year old technology? If thats the case then most people will keep their current DVD players.

If the admins want to close threads after a year of inactivity, I'm ok with that. A member could start a new thread if they had a question about a past product, but I don't see the necessity to just blindly delete every thread after a certain amount of time has passed. |

As Justin said ~ There is a lot more to this site then Just Blu-ray & it's technology changing times & advancing. That is why it would be a bad idea to just delete old threads ! |

I have been asking for SOMETHING to pop up (asked in new features and improvement thread) if you are replying to something that has been buried for a while. Most of the time the person digging said post is a new member and doesn't bother to pay attention to the last post date they are responding too.

As for the OP, just where are you finding all of these 2 year old posts? Only if you go looking for them are you ever going to find something that old that has not been kept current for whatever reason. Deleting "old" posts is simply an unwise idea. There are many older threads on this site that are still applicable today and offer tons of good information. If people would use the search function more often, they'd find answers in these threads and prevent the ever present duplicate threads from being started.
