"The Return of CHCanada.com" Thread

I am restarting this thread since the ORIGINAL CHCanada.com thread was merged, most would say thoughtlessly, with the Columbia House Canada Club thread.

So, to recap:

For anyone not aware, CHcanada.com is an offshoot of the Canada-based Columbia House (member-only) Movie Club. The difference is its basically an online store instead of a club. There are a few insignificant "obligations" (read the fine print), but the savings that can be had are worthwhile if you are patient. Shipping is $1.99 per item, up to a max of $5.99 for 3 or more items.

PLEASE NOTE as I'm only going to say this ONCE: This is NOT another web site for the Columbia House Canada members who receive the "Selection of the Month" -- you're regular Columbia House Club login WON'T WORK HERE! This is a "pick-it-off-the-electronic-shelf-and-buy-it" site with its OWN membership and login.

Biggest drawback right now is selection, especially lacking in FOX and Disney Blu-ray, but new titles are added weekly.

A nice selection of Blus can be had for $13.99, whose availability rotates weekly. A good price for Canada.

Updates to the site, including new releases and the latest selection of $13.99 titles, usually occurs every Monday -- sometimes Tuesday morning.

There are also a number of CHCanada.com staffers who frequent this thread and are very keen to help out when possible, so ask away if you have questions.

If I missed anything, any of you regulars can chime in anytime.

There is also a French-language version of the site called "CineEtCie" at www.cineetcie.ca.

Prices are pretty much the same -- sometimes cheaper than CHCanada -- but CineEtCie has a lot of Paramount titles (such as Gladiator, Braveheart and Forrest Gump) that the CHCanada.com site does not.

Also, CineEtCie does not have free shipping promos as often as CHCanada.com. Shipping rates are the same.

Membership to this site is separate from the CHCanada.com site, as are the obligations. (Obligations are the same, however: two purchases per year.)

Agreed. I would say, since T2 is still showing the preorder discount even though it's out today, that the site hasn't been updated for the week yet.

As Steve said, the code is "bogo". Once you enter the code, a drop down appears with about 30 DVDs listed, the first of which is DaVinci Code -- too bad, as I already had that on DVD...

Just curious, do all the $13.99 movies switch weekly or will some stay the same for multiple weeks?

About three titles switch every week. The older titles can stay there several weeks.

It varies week to week. The more recent the release, the more likely it will only be available for one week.

Some titles can stay on for weeks.

azereus - there is a selection of $13.99 titles that remains for the month and there are 2 or 3 newer releases that swap out each week - these are the ones you have to watch out for as they are only at that price point for the week and then gone.
