March 31st 2015 saw the final shutdown of PSHome when Sony decided they couldn't be bothered with it anymore and didn't want to port it to the PS4.
Despite what those who never used it claim, it was popular and profitable for Sony. But it was rife with bugs and difficult for them to police, so the plug was pulled. I was one of those who used Home a lot, especially after a major operation that left me fairly immobile and housebound for nearly a year. Home was my escape at the time. A place to meet friends, and get out while still being at home. Sodium Salt Shooter was my most played game on my PS3. I also had arcade cabinets on top of the ones in the public spaces. I miss the bowling alley, home square, midway, and various other spaces including private spaces. Being able to virtually meet friends in the Ghostbusters firehouse was fun. The loss of Home still resonates with me, and I lost a lot of purchased content when it went, much to my frustration. Some of home still survives via the Four Kings Casino, a couple of Home spaces have been resurrected for Atom Universe (which is a not-so-great attempt at a successor for Home on the PS4), and some fan-made spaces in Rec Room, which is the nearest equivalent we have today. It's hard to believe it's been gone a decade now, but I still miss it. I don't know if anyone else here ever used PSHome as well? Last edited by Eidolon; 03-04-2025 at 10:32 PM. Reason: . |
