Questions about "The Island" Blu-ray release. - Blu-ray Forum

Is it region free, if not will it play in US PS3 / BDP-S300 US? Also how is PQ and SQ and are there any screen shots / captures? Pictures of the cover, box, inside and or outside, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I imported the movie and it is region free. Thus, it will play on any Blu-ray player.

Movie - 4.5~5/5
PQ - 4.75~5/5
SQ - 4.5/5 [Could have sounded reference with lossless audio but hey it's from Warner what else do you expect ?]
Extras - 1.5/5
Replay value - 4/5

Be aware that the bluray audio seems to have a completely different sound to that on the UK dvd . It is dull and lifeless in comparison , which is a bit galling since it looks so much better . Sound wins for me on this , so I always select the old disc .Oh well ........

Its known it doesnt have a HD track, The PQ makes up for that

Yes ,both discs are the standard DD .But they sound completely dissimilar!

I find it hard to believe that it sounds that bad...I almost imported this a few days back. It was 7.99 in UK's currency, what is that pounds or euros I don't even know?

The SDVD audio track suffers from PAL speedup. The BD audio track does not

Thanks woodwind person - that explains why the BD's sound seems so dull . Correct , but dull ! Feel a bit stupid for not figuring this out and still preferring the sped up version .

Nope. No announcements (or even rumors for that matter) have been made regarding a US release. I highly recommend picking up the UK Blu-Ray, it is region free, and pretty cheap, too!

I have been wanting to buy this from amazon.uk forever now. i never have cause of NO lossless. Maybe after Michael Bay does THIS years Transformers 3 it will happen (tons of rumors it was gonna happen after he was done with Transformers 2).

And as of today the total cost in USD was $17.42 shipped. so whatever. i still want the lossless. Maybe when i remember how much i like this movie 2 more years from now i will buy it. By then it should be about $10 to buy so maybe cause we are NEVER gonna get a US release. But then again I said that about Armageddon so who knows.
