Default Is your Gamerscore truly legit?

Well I cant lie standing up. *goes to lay down* just kidding.

About 4+ years ago. I bought the game NCAA basketball 2k7. I was playing with a friend. I decided to ask him. If he wanted to get the achievement for holding your opponent to 20 points online. He said sure. Anyway I got that achievement by boosting.

Another time(same game). I put the Half to 1 min so I could get the Louisville vs Kentucky Rivalry achievement.

Boy do I regret doing those. I really wish Microsoft would do something. So we could delete games w/ achievements off our gamertag. Because I dont want the gamerscore for those achievements. Because I feel bad for doing it.

Now I wonder if I could say playing a Sports game on Pro instead of All-star or higher, could be considered cheating to get achievements. Since Then, When I play sports games I always play on All-star or higher.

So anyways. Have you guys ever did anything like, what I did?

Yeah, mines legit and sad. I've had a 360 for 5 yrs and my score is only ~13k. But I don't play to get points, I play for the games.

Same here, my Live and PSN trophies are legit and pathetic.. But like you it doesn't matter to me at all as I play the games to enjoy the games. Cracks me up to see some people actually buy or skip games based on the achievements or trophies, even games that they somtimes hate "well its an easy platinum but I don't like it"/.

I remember when I first fired up ES: IV on the 360 and it gave points for the most mundane things (basically it would be impossible to not get poins).. "you opened the door, 10 pts" nonsense like that, I couldn't help but really laughing out loud.

For the most part yes mine are legit but.....
I was late getting a 360 bought it the same day as my ps3 Nov. 06.
and when I went online all I got was noob this and noob that, you suck and I got booted out of games constantly. So I looked at my players met list and noticed everyone I ran into had 5k + GS. So I thought maybe this is why I'm getting booted. So I got some sports games. They are really the dead give away to padding your gamerscore.

Most notably NBA 2k6 and NBA Live 06 are ones I did just to pad my score. 2k games are way easy 5 achievements in 2k6 all unlockable in a single game about 20-30 min. I have a couple NCAA football ones too, but I actually like the NCAA football series better than Madden.

Ya know what I was right once my score was up around 2k I stopped getting booted out of games. It's a shame how some people are. I ran into a few people with insane gamerscores like 20-40k+ and they had one thing in common a ton of sports games achievements.

I know not all sports games are easy but in the example of NBA 2k6 you pick the west coast all-star team crank your abilities or stats to the max crank the AI all the way down keep feeding the ball to Steve Nash and hit 3 pointers the whole time you will have 1,000 GS points in 20-30 min.

The achievements I'm most proud of are Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2, Gears of War 1 & 2. Army of Two. Particularly Gears 2 I'm 1460/1720 on that one. Lots and lots of hours in that one.

I agree with you though if I could delete those NBA ones I would willing drop that 1835 points in a heartbeat. If you click on my card you can see my games breakdown though contra and crackdown are on there and I have never played either

Thanks guys for posting.

I have been looking at my games list.

NBA 2k11(Maybe All-star)
Madden 11(mainly played All-Madden or All-star)
Halo 3(found the orginal skulls with friend/guide)
Mlb 2k10(cant remember what setting.
Halo3 ODST(one achievement was during
Tekken 6 (beat a friend online legit. But I was kinda doing same move over)
Madden 10(Cant remember what setting I had(Pro or Allstar or did madden training setting)

These games I dont know if you could say they are cheap. So would u guys say any of those could be considered illegit?

EDIT: looking at other ones. They are Sports games(that I played on Pro. I use to always play on pro on sports games, even before achievements). Now I dont buy those games for achievements. I buy them because I enjoy those types of games.

All legit points here, been gaming since Pong days and 360 owner since launch. I haven't played or owned any sports games - they are more single-player achievements than anything.

3DForLife,
I think sports games can be legit if you don't mess with the AI settings. But there is no way someone else will know for sure. Well look at mine the basketball ones I have nearly maxed out one is one isn't. I admit I jacked with the AI in order to get the achievements.

Now look at my NCAA Football I only have roughly half of them, the difference? I actually like those games and play them for fun.
I don't play dynasty mode and for some reason I never got the held under 200yds which I have done several times.

You can tell if you can look at when someone got the achievements you will see many different dates on the achievements. Most of my NCAA 08 trophies are from two dates because I don't own it I borrowed my brother two different times. 07 is mine there are dates ranging across a whole year.

All in all if you know you got them legit it doesn't matter what anyone says. But the general consensus with most people I play with is sports games = GS boosting.
There are plenty of people who do it (boost)in all kinds of games so it isn't exclusive to sports games

And on a side note I don't consider using a guide to find some things in game cheating. There are games that are ridiculously hard to find stuff in.

Yep, mine is still in the upper 6000 and I've earned every achievement. I think I would have a higher score if I hadn't lost what I did before going Live and needing to change my Live ID Still, I have a blast playing upstairs and downstairs with my USB flash drive

Thanks. Yeah, Ill be honest. I have changed the in-game settings on 3 sports game, in my whole xbox life. One was making the game speed 100% and changing 20 min halves to 1min.

Seeing how small it is... Yeah, it's legit. Gamerscore is one of those things that I care absolutely nothing about. If there were a few more interesting games being developed & released, my score would probably be a lot higher, though I still wouldn't care.

I'm not going to knock on anyone who likes getting them or even plays games they hate to get them. It's there deal...and I'm ok with that. Doesn't bother me one bit.

There are a few that I got that I was kinda proud of, like beating Left for Dead 1 on the hardest mode...all 4 chapters. Me and a friend played co-op and did it, basically just so we could say we did. Getting the little popup to make it official was just an added bonus.

Another big reason my score is low is b/c I built my basement for 18 months which I didn't game as much, then had 2 children. THAT will really dampen your free time.

My score is legit and mostly from Single Player as I play very little if any multiplayer online. The only game that is less legit is TMNT, I played that to get the easy thousand for the old spice giveaway a couple years ago. Got free Contra for playing that one.

Mine is legit because I just don't care about it enough to boost it. I've had my 360 since 2nd launch and I THINK my gamerscore is about 18K (not sure?)

IMO acheivements are a double edged sword. Sure it's fun to see the notification when you get them, and sometimes you do things you might not have otherwise done... and actually enjoy it.

OTOH... I think they've really damaged the quality of online multiplayer. So many times you end up in a game with boosters... or even with people who aren't playing the game smartly just because they are trying to get a specific acheivement. Like the guy who has three enemies in close range, but he won't switch to the shotty on his back and instead keeps trying to snipe the dude 3 ft away because he needs his "kill 100 enemies with a sniper" acheivement.

I agree. Thats why I hate most online achievements. Some I dont mind(playing 100 matches, etc).

Mine are all legit and im pretty proud of a few... i think they make too many that are easy. Getting all 1000 in dead rising was tough as well as 1250 in GoW. All 1250 (think it was higher) in force unleashed was also one i was psyched to complete. Batman arkham asylum while not tough was time consuming to top out.

Think they add some replayability and goal, because unlike games of the past you don't accomplish something that just sits on a memory card and catches dust. Therefore it gives me a a competitive drive to go for the hard stuff i otherwise would have never done. Can really enhance game play imo.

Don't know why anyone would boost these, but i do have an online friend who's part of a group that plays on dummy accounts more or less with one person playing a different game like 24-7, they get the account up to like 100,000 achievement points and auction them off... actually make pretty decent money doing this from my understanding. Just don't know why someone would actually pay for fake awards.

gamer scores are truly overrated..

mine's quite low and i have had my xbox for 360 for year's,it's not my thing to waste my weekend's on gamer score's and feel like i really accomplished something really important,it's some kind of conspiracy Like you've done something with your life ..

It's about the Storyline for me i enjoy about gaming.
