Warner Bros Masters of the Universe (1987)

Masters of the Universe Blu-ray

Blu-ray.com:

Quote:
Warner Home Entertainment will bring Masters of the Universe to Blu-ray in the fall. This live-action adaptation of the popular children's cartoon stars Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables) as He-Man, a warrior prince who must combat the evil Skeletor (Frank Langella, Frost/Nixon).

While trying to stop Skeletor from conquering the planet of Eternia, He-Man finds himself accidentally transported to present-day California. With the help of his brilliant troll sidekick Gwildor (Billy Barty, Legend) and a teenage waitress (Courteney Cox, Scream), He-Man tries to find a way back home, but his progress is stunted by Skeletor's minions, who have managed to follow He-Man to Earth.

The technical and supplementary specifications are still unknown for this Blu-ray, which Warner is marketing as a 25th Anniversary Edition.

Masters of the Universe streets on October 2nd.

The only thing I really remember about this movie is that Courtney Cox was in it; I probably haven't seen it in ten years or better.

I'm not expecting miracles on this set but hopefully the fact that it's an anniversary edition means Warners will give this a decent dusting off and some nice extras.

Really looking forward to this. One of the backbones of my childhood film watching and the first film I ever owned. Still enjoy watching it 25 years later.

Haven't seen this on tv in forever, loved it as a kid...never had it on vhs or dvd, will definitely get this! Get to see the credits at the end for a sequence someone pointed out before the great collapse. Skeletor really made the movie something special!

Depending on price I may get this. I do seem to remember really liking it as a kid.

This is easily the best Blu-ray news of the year as far as I'm concerned...It'll be a great pleasure to watch Gwildor, Man-at-Arms, & Teela sit around and eat "Robbie's Ribs" (all while the Cosmic Key is lost and the fate of the entire universe at stake) in HD.

Best line of the film (at least IMO):

He-Man: "I don't want innocent people to die!"

Really want this, saw it when I was 5,and really liked it,but never bought the DVD,so happy for a BD release, hopefully some extras are included including the DVD Commentary. But I have watched some of the scenes with Skelator and those are reason enough for me to go ahead and buy this. And if its campy so what, its He-Man,not like making Batman & Robin a Big-Budget Version of the 1960s TV Show(Which I Love the Show, but not B&R),He-Man is campy,so that doesn't really hurt anything to me. I'd really like a Longer Version of a Doc like the 1 that was posted in this thread on the problems they had while in production.

Default Masters Of The Universe (25th Anniversary)--available 10/2/12

Couldn't find anything in the "search" for this so I thought why not start the talk and give my fellow members the heads up. I didn't even know this was coming to blu until I stumbled upon it on Amazon.

So who's gonna get this cheesy '80s childerns film? I always disliked it cause it left out tons of He-Man characters! Plus there was NO NEED to make them go to Earth!

But I digged Frank Langela as Skeletor and Dolphin wasn't so bad.
Didn't mind Gwildor either.

Hope PQ is great. And has some new features.

I was hoping the cover would be the same as the US VHS one.

Yeah.

The original poster art was great! The DVD art(and now blu ray art) was lame!
