I haven't seen it. Probably seriously crappy English subtitles, so i'll most likely skip it.

With all these Stephen Chow blu-ray releases, we are getting closer to a possible God of Cookery and From Beijing With Love!!!

This movie is pretty hilarious if you understand Cantonese. Lots of local HK humor. The snooker scenes were really cool.

Don't think God of Cookery or From Beijing with Love was ever part of Fortune Star's catalogue.

aww crap.

How much would it cost to buy the rights of those films to put it on blu-ray out of curiousity?

It is better to put the God of Gamblers films on Blu-ray first.

I thought those already had watchable anamorphic DVDs though?

God of Cookery and From Beijing With Love are stuck in non-anamorphic letterboxed hell (the English-subtitled versions).

I think Fortune Star actually has From Beijing with Love. I believe the french dvd is a FS remaster...I think. The last dvd of God of Cookery was released by CN entertainment, not sure if FS have that one.

I have the first two films in my library, but not the third one. The first two look quite bad - the first one, in particular, has an enormous amount of macroblocking.

I am really most interested in Chow Yun-Fat's early films. The big budget Woo, U.S., and late films (Crouching Tiger...) do very little for me.

Some (best to have all, of course) of these would be great to have on Blu-ray:

The Story of Woo Viet
Postman Strikes Back
The Head Hunter
Last Affair
Love in a Fallen City
Women
...
