Default PPV/Blu-ray Rental of the Week

So what movie did you watch on PPV this week? Which are you going to order this week?

I'll start...

This past weekend we rented "Little Fockers" on "Cinema Now" off my Samsung apps..

Good- Movie itself was very good.. DeNiro and Stiller play off each other so well, and the plot was solid with Poor Greg Focker getting more grief from Jack Burnes.. Funny situations.. great characters.. excellent rental.

The Bad- Very disappointed with the "Cinema Now" execution of the movie.. at times the video quality was downright horrible (I have a wired connection to my broadband internet), and it even froze up a few times.. - This was the last time we will be using this service.. even if the total price was only $4.99

Overall- Wife and I really enjoyed the movie despite the problems with the program.. we will just go ahead and use our Directv Cinema PPV from now on the get our PPV.

What we may be getting this weekend: "The King's Speech" Obviously a decent movie to check out on PPV.. won the big awards.. and seems interesting.

So what about all of you.. what did you rent on PPV this week???

I don't PPV. Prices are too high when I can get some films for a $1.00 at one of the "boxes" or any new release that isn't available in the box at my local "mom & pop" store for $2.50.

Yes for the most part they come the same day( some studios movies take 28 days to come to them). And yes many big movies have a Blu version to rent for $1.50 a day.

So I guess the question becomes... which is more important to you?

Convenience of ordering instantly on PPV, no return fees, no chance of damaged discs, no hassle of going to and returning discs.. vs. saving about $4...

HMMMM... I just looked into "reserving" -The King's Speech- .. the nearest "Redbox" only has it on DVD.. no way I'm gonna watch it just on regular DVD...

Unless I can find it on Blu.. close to me.. I think I'll go PPV route as of now...

Imo I would rather save the $4 and rent at a redbox or blockbuster express.

I just received The King's Speech, on Blu, in my mailbox from Net Flix. I'll watch it tonight and put it back in the mailbox tomorrow morning. No hassle ... especially since I have to go to the mailbox to get my mail anyway. The amount of movies I watch pays for itself verses Red Box or anything else. And it sure beats that crap out of PPV since I can keep it as long as I want and can watch it whenever I want without a 24 hour time frame.

Great input..

The Tourist is a great movie.. Jolie is just too beautiful...

That is why I think if I don't do the Box thing, I'll use Directv Cinema.. instant download, clear picture... a little more expensive, but very good quality, and no return fees, dropping off.. etc...

My biggest problem with netflix- and the reason I dropped my rental membership with them is the lack of patience on my part for new releases.. I got tired of waiting weeks for the new releases to finally make it to me..

This did not happen all the time, but more times than not in my experience..

I've been experiencing a lot of that lately. For instance, The Fighter is still on a "very long wait" in my queue and has been for a few weeks. But I've been fine with it so far. I know eventually the movies will get to me.

Yeah, that is how I was.. for a while.. then when they kept shipping me things that I had in my Q.. but really didn't want to see as badly as the new releases.. the days, and weeks kept going by.. then finally I had enough..

Just changed the topic title to reflect just a standard "Movie Rental" thread.. doesn't have to be PPV...

PPV is pointless for me. I usually rent movies from Netflix, Blockbuster and sometimes Redbox.
I just recently rented Little Fockers. It was good, but not as good as the first two.

.
As I would normally PPV through a Playstation 3 (in HD), I usually just get the Blu-ray through Netflix. Saves a buncha downloading time.
However, at the moment, I shaved my Netflix down to a streaming-only to save money, and was hoping to PPV Harry Potter 7.1 through PS Network in time for 7.2, when....oh, you PS3 folks know.
