Default Unplanned (Pure Flix Entertainment) release date August 13th 2019

On August 13th 2019 Pure Flix Entertainment is going to release on standard 1080P Blu-ray the Christian movie called Unplanned (I wish this title would also see a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc, however only the standard 1080P Blu-ray disc is planned).

I had the opportunity to see this Unplanned movie in the commercial movie theater. This is the best Christian movie that Pure Flix Entertainment has every made. The movie has a strong pro-life message and is based on a true story regarding what Abby Johnson and other people have experienced during an abortion. This is another one of these rare Christian movies that has a R rating and also to my knowledge the very first R rated movie released by Pure Flix Entertainment. I am looking forward to the release of this movie on Blu-ray.

This unplanned movie on Blu-ray has a list price of $39.99 and at the time of this post is currently $39.99 at Amazon. At the time of this post the cheapest online pre-order price for Unplanned on Blu-ray is from Best Buy for only $22.99.

Missed this one in the theaters, but I'll likely pick it up at some point.

I did read her autobiography several years back and I remember her story as being quite compelling.

I wasn't going to chime in, as the people who enjoyed this movie should be allowed to enjoy it and the people who are looking forward to it should be allowed to look forward to it, but since everyone else already is... (Edit: The posts I was replying to have since been deleted.)

This is easily the worst film of the year (IMO, obviously). No matter where you stand on the abortion issue, there's a damn good story to be told here (a Planned Parenthood employee going in the other direction after almost a decade is an intriguing "hook" - if only to find out why). Unfortunately, it's marred by truly amateurish and inept acting, even worse casting, a woefully ridiculous script, and a snarling "villain" that feels like a character straight out of a cartoon. If they had just taken a step back and told the story without all of the unnecessary crap, there would be something there!

On a more positive note: I went with my sister and ten older ladies from her church, and that was amazing. They were all crying throughout, very deeply moved by the experience. I wish I could say the same. However, I did get the loveliest hug from one of the old church ladies, whom I had never met before the movie.

It's pretty amazing that this film is currently sitting at the number 2 spot on the Amazon best seller list for Movies & TV. And that's overall, not just some sub-category.

I got mine in today. Didnt expect a slipcover.

I just received my Unplanned Blu-ray from Best Buy today with slipcover. Awesome to get the movie on release date. I will try and watch it today or tonight. This pro-life movie is popular with both Catholics and Evangelicals. I saw EWTN in one of their emails promoting the home video release.

Its a movie spree Digital Redemption code that is included with the Blu-ray. The Blu-ray has better picture and sound when compared to the streaming version.

I'm glad to see this selling so well. I didn't see it in theaters, but I will probably pick it up soon.

Unplanned has been added to Hoopla Digital, which is a free, legal streaming service you can access with a library card if your library is a member.

It has a Roku channel, etc.

Easy, convenient way to "try before you buy" and see if the movie is something you'll like and actually want to own.

Thanks for the tip!

Say...you're not a Golden Girls/Limited video game fan by chance, are you?

If not, then it's just a coincidence and nothing to concern yourself over.

Default What she saw changed everything.

Front and back covers contributed to the Blu-ray.com database per the below.

(Click here to view my online profile for this title.)

Well, the back portion I just updated. Using the credit block from the slip instead now as it's much larger. Looks much better. The credit block on the actual cover art is smaller. Due to the thin font used it didn't scan well at all. Anyway, I'll contribute the updated back portion shown above once my current submission is approved.

Ha! Nice! Well, this forum is MUCH more active than that one, and pretty sizeable. I barely signed up here a few days ago. Just like games, I prefer my movies physical. Nice to see a friendly face (Arnold) around here! But anyway, I don't want to stay off topic too long. See you around then!

Default Unplanned (brief user review)

Unplanned (brief user review)

The Unplanned movie is a pro-life Christian movie that has been released on the Blu-ray format. This Unplanned movie is also based on a true story. Unplanned is a low budget movie that was distributed by Pure Flix Entertainment. With the help of investors and people that gave donations, the production company Soli Deo Gloria had a $6 million dollar budget for this movie and box office sales was $19 million dollars. Therefore, this was a profitable Christian movie that both Catholics and Evangelical Christians supported. Unplanned is one of the rare Christian movies that has an R rating and also to my knowledge the very first R rated movie that Pure Flix Entertainment released. The reason for the R rating is for the bloody images (abortion scenes).

Abortion is the ending of the life of a little baby in the mother’s womb. Before 1970, abortions were against the law in all 50 states. In 1970 New York legalized abortions and then by 1971 a total of 6 states plus Washington D.C. had made abortions legal. In the United States before the landmark 1973 decision of Roe V. Wade, abortions were illegal in 44 states. Back before 1970 little babies in the mother’s womb were protected by the Constitution of the United States and the laws on the books that made it illegal to murder a little baby in the womb. After the landmark 1973 Roe versus Wade decision the Supreme court ruled that a state law that banned abortions was unconstitutional. This ruling made abortions legal in all 50 states. However, currently in the United States there is a double standard when it comes to the life of a little baby in the mother’s womb. In the USA if someone on purpose was to murder a pregnant women and her unborn baby, under the law that person would be charged with the murder of two separate human beings (The murder of a women and the murder of an unborn baby is a double homicide). However if instead a women was to walk inside an abortion clinic and request the doctor to terminate the life of her baby up until the 9th month, then under the law that abortion doctor and woman would not be charged with the murder of a baby. 100% of the time the God of the Bible is for protecting innocent life going all the way back to the beginning of Creation. For over 2,000 years it has been core Christian doctrine for both the Government and pregnant mothers to be pro-life. There are 27 Bible versus that are used by Christians in regards to life beginning at conception and why abortions are wrong. Even some atheists that do not believe in God have decided to be pro-life because of all the scientific evidence that proves that human life begins at conception. With today’s Ultrasound technology and other scientific tests, one can see a beating heart and a little innocent baby in the womb. Most females that do decide to get an abortion today know that they are terminating the life of their baby, however they believe it’s their choice to end the life of the baby. In the Christian worldview the little baby in the womb should be protected by the government, and the woman’s choice was already made when she decided to have sex in the bedroom. Many people use abortion as a form of birth control. However any birth control that ends someone’s life is immoral in the Christian worldview (Some Catholics do not believe in birth control but most Evangelical Christians believe birth control is ok before conception of life has occurred).

Some of the following information contains brief spoilers

In this true story of Unplanned, in the year 2001 a young women called Abby Johnson sees a Planned Parenthood table at a career fair. Abby Johnson decides to become a Planned Parenthood volunteer because she is told the goal of the organization is to make abortions rare and to help women (Abby discovers later on the big lie that abortions are not rare in so called woman’s health clinics). At this time in Abby’s life she is not against abortions since later on in the movie she has two separate abortions (one medical termination of a baby, and using the abortion pill for her second abortion). Abby discovers first hand that killing a baby in the womb can be painful and harmful to the human body. At one point in the movie a Father brings his pregnant daughter into an abortion clinic. Then his daughter literally almost dies from the procedure. Abby and the rest of the clinic workers covers up the abortion event that almost ended with two people dead instead of just one person dead. Abortions are not a safe procedure and they do harm to the woman’s or girls body. Over the years many people have either died from a abortion or an ambulance had to be called because of something going wrong with the procedure (In Abby’s abortion Clinic ambulances are never called because it would be a bad image for the clinic). Abby receives a few promotions. Abby goes from being a volunteer, to being a public relations director, and then a counselor for Planned Parenthood. Over the years Abby starts to change and start encouraging young women and teenage girls to get in abortion. As a counselor for Planned Parenthood Abby starts to promote abortions and becomes a sales person who tells all kinds of lies and sales techniques to close the sale. Also during the entire movie there is a peaceful organization called 40 Days for Life that stands on the public sidewalk all day praying for people and trying to convince people not to have an abortion. 99% of the time pro-life people are peaceful people and will pray for people in the abortion industry since it’s the governments job to make laws to protect the little babies in the womb and to prosecute people that break the law (The Unplanned movie is fair and balanced and does mention the reality that around 1% of pro-life people in the world decide to break the law and cause death and bodily harm to abortion workers). During the movie big waste trucks arrive at Planned Parenthood to carry away most likely several hundreds of little baby body parts in big barrels. Even though this movie received an R rating for bloody images, the actual abortion scenes are mild compared to a horror movie. In some ways the Unplanned movie is like a horror movie since human beings in the womb are being murdered. The Unplanned movie reminds me of one of my favorite movies called Schindler’s List. In the classic true story Schindler’s List movie the Nazis murder around 8 million Jewish people and other people during the Holocaust (It was politically incorrect to speak up against Hitler’s worldview and many people did nothing to stop the holocaust). In the late 20th Century and modern 21st Century abortion is not just an American problem it is a worldwide problem. China is one of the biggest countries that offers abortions. An estimated 41.9 million abortions were performed worldwide in 2018. It is estimated that 1.5 billion abortions have occurred worldwide since 1980 (Abortions are the biggest holocaust ever. Some of those children would have grown up to be policeman, firefighters, scientist, lawyers, teachers, etc).

In the Unplanned movie one learns that some of the abortion clinic workers claim to be Catholics and Protestant Christians that go to church every Sunday. Even though the Catholic church and Protestant churches are officially pro-life, many Priests and Pastors are afraid to speak from the pulpit about the abortion issue since they might offend the congregation. Not everyone that calls themselves a Christian obeys the Bible in certain areas. The abortion industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that offers excellent salaries and benefits on earth (Some people love money more than human life, 1 Timothy 6:10). During the bonus features of the Unplanned Blu-ray we learn that around 70% of customers that come into an abortion clinic to get an abortion claim to be Christians (There needs to be a revival and repenting in some churches before we go and try and evangelize the world). In the Unplanned bonus section, one learns that 1 in 3 women in the United States has had an abortion. In addition, the bonus features mention that Planned Parenthood targets minorities by placing 79% of abortion clinics within walking distances of minority neighborhoods. That is also called genocide in the bonus features. Many people get abortions because they believe they cannot afford to raise a baby all the way through college. There are many other reasons why people get abortions, some people are lied to and told it’s not a baby yet, while other people get an abortion since they feel it’s not the right time in their life (It usually is never the right time to raise a child, but with prayer and help from others many people choose life). In modern times, many teenagers and adults have access to abortion pills and use them as a form of birth control even though abortion pills end the life of a fetus. Abortion pills require no prescription and even children in America have purchased them at retail locations and online. Because of the abortion pills there has been less demand for abortion clinics in recent year as people have abortions in the privacy of their home.

In the Unplanned movie, we see Abby Johnson become the director of an abortion clinic. However, over the many years at working at an abortion clinic, Abby starts to see Planned Parenthood moving more and more into pushing women into getting an abortion since that is where the money is made. Then one day Abby Johnson for the first time is called back to the actual abortion room to help the abortion doctor since they are short staffed that day. When Abby actually for the first time sees a little baby on the Ultrasound being torn apart by a suction machine and in pain trying to move away from the tube, Abby no longer wants to be part of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry anymore. Overtime Abby reaches out to pro-life Christians for help (40 Days for Life). Abby Johnson realizes that she has been involved in the murder of over 22,000 babies in the womb while working for the local Planned Parenthood clinic for 8 years. In real life Abby went through a process of repenting and crying to the Lord for several days. Jesus Christ forgives peoples sins if they repent and go and sin no more. Abby Johnson has become a very strong pro-life leader and her organization “And Then There Were Non” has transitioned over 500 people out of the abortion industry. In 2013, the Texas abortion clinic that Abby Johnson use to work at was closed. There was a revival and people stopped coming to the abortion clinic and some employees of Planned Parenthood decided to make a career change which resulted in the clinic being closed. This Unplanned movie has had major effects on both Christians and non-Christians. According to the bonus features on this Blu-ray disc an atheist who was a big abortion supporter, after he saw a certain scene in the movie, he became a strong pro-life person that wanted to help pass laws to make abortions illegal. Some people after seeing this movie have held peaceful protests at their local abortion clinic and praying for people at the clinics to try and get them to choose life. Some people after seeing this movie are trying to make all abortion illegal or trying to reverse the Roe versus Wade decision so that the individual states decide if abortion should be illegal or legal. This movie has had a lot of effects on people with some people repenting and leaving the abortion industry, or asking God forgiveness for their own personal abortions. While the abortion clinic can get rid of the baby located in the mother’s womb, the abortion clinic with current technology is unable to wipe out the memory of the abortion experience. Some men have pressured their girlfriends into getting an abortion, and then a few days later leave and go find another women to have a relationship with. Many women after they get an abortion live with the mental pain and sometimes medical issues many years later because of the procedure. One part of the bonus features on the Blu-ray disc mentions that a decade later some men ask their former girlfriends for forgiveness for pushing them into an abortion.

One interesting thing during the bonus features of this Blu-ray disc, is that one learns that in real life the actor Ashley Bratcher who plays Abby Johnson, was almost aborted in real life. Ashley’s mother walked into an abortion clinic to abort Ashley, but at the last minute changed her mind and did not go through with the abortion.

Unplanned is a very interesting true story about the abortion industry and how Jesus Christ can forgive peoples sins. Even big executives of a multi-billion dollar abortion industry can receive forgiveness through Jesus Christ if they repent and change their career. There has never been a movie made like this that shows the horrors that occur in an abortion clinic. This Unplanned movie shows the reality of a modern day holocaust that happens to little babies in America, China, and many other areas of the world. This is an ideal movie for teenagers and adults to see and its highly recommended for both Christians and non-Christians.

Video comments

Unplanned was released on a standard 1080P Blu-ray disc and did not receive the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray treatment. This dual layer Blu-ray disc uses a total of 37.3GB of space out of 50GB. The Unplanned Blu-ray uses the MPEG-4/AVC codec with a 1080P resolution. The MPEG-4/AVC bit rate appeared to on average be around 30Mbps. The color quality and resolution detail was overall excellent. This region free Blu-ray disc is encoded with English SDH and Spanish subtitles options.

Audio comments

Unplanned has both a lossless English 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack and a lossless Spanish 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack that is bit for bit exactly the same as the studio master. Overall I enjoyed the surround sound mix for unplanned with human voices mainly coming out of the center channel and some left and right stereo action along with the subwoofer kicking in at some points in the movie. Also the rear surround sound effects were fairly good for a low budget movie.

Extra Features

Overall the extra features were very enjoyable to watch. This Blu-ray disc is loaded with extra features (I wish an audio commentary would have been created for this movie, however none exists). Included inside the Blu-ray case is a nice colorful pro-life booklet called “Save the Strokes Brooklet Inside with Devotional (Revolutionizing the meaning of Pro-life)”. The Blu-ray disc menus uses the MPEG-2 codec with 1080P resolution. All the full motion video extra features use the MPEG-4/AVC codec with 1080P resolution. All the extras are 2.0 Dolby Digital at 224kbps. Making of Unplanned: (Behind the scenes featurette 27 minutes and 32 seconds), (Unplanned Theatrical Trailer 2 minutes and 36 seconds), (Deleted Scenes 4 minutes and 5 seconds), (Music Video – Matthew West “Unplanned” 3 minutes and 25 seconds). Unplanned Stories: (The Million Dollar Call 4 minutes and 42 seconds), (Iron Sharpens Iron 1 minute and 31 seconds), (The Meaning of Life 2 minutes and 11 seconds), (Healing and Forgiveness 3 minutes and 6 seconds), (The Dr. Levatino Story 3 minutes and 15 seconds). Abby’s Story: (Abby Walks Away 3 minutes and 44 seconds), (Female Empowerment 2 minutes and 6 seconds), (Post-Abortive Healing 2 minutes and 52 seconds), (Sidewalk Rescue 2 minutes and 5 second), (Unborn Justice 1 minute and 25 seconds). Every Life Matters: (The Beginning 2 minutes and 15 seconds), (Every Life Matters: Eduardo Verastegui 1 minute and 15 seconds), (The Victoria Robinson Story 3 minutes and 15 seconds), (Genocide 2 minutes and 8 seconds), (Devotional is a MPEG-2 1080P still frame scripture verse to read). This Blu-ray disc has some nice dedicated Spanish bonus features. Spanish Bonus Features: (Unplanned Theatrical Trailer – Espanol 2 minutes and 36 seconds), (Cada Vida Importa: Eduardo Verastegui 4 minutes and 13 minutes), (Devotional – Espanol is a MPEG-2 1080P still frame scripture verse in Spanish).

Conclusion

Unplanned on Blu-ray is a true story about the multi-billion dollar abortion industry and how the Gospel of Jesus Christ can offer forgiveness to people that have had an abortion and even people like Abby Johnson who was involved in the murder of over 22,000 little babies in the mother’s womb. The MPEG-4/AVC bit rate with 1080P resolution was excellent. I enjoyed the lossless English 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack. The bonus features were outstanding to watch with a lot of useful pro-life information. This movie is highly recommended for both Christians and non-Christian teenagers and adults. This is a life changing movie that has had a major effect on some peoples life and worldview when it comes to the issue of abortion.
