Default Sanford and Son: Complete Series $23.99- Worth a blind buy?

I went to J&R the other day and was surprised to see this sale on Sanford and Son The Complete Series DVD.

HTML Code:
http://www.jr.com/product/movie/pv/_1201106V/
It's only $23.99 for all 136 episodes. I never watched this show, but everyone I know that has watched this show all rave about how hilarious the show is.

Anyone recommend that I blind buy it?? That's a very attractive price tag, I must say.

It's a pretty great show, I enjoy watching it in reruns on TVLand. I'd say for that price, it's absolutely worth it.

Great TV show. IMO, it is a classic tv show.

But just a warning, the complete series has all the disc on top of each other(stacked like a pancake). I orginally was going to buy it a long time ago. But after finding out about that problem. I passed.

Thanks! I'll go on my lunch break tomorrow and buy it.... that is, if they're still in stock.

BTW- I noticed that my link is not posting correctly. For some reason, the link keeps changing every time I post it, so I had to wrap the HTML tag around it so the link would post properly.

Yeah, I read about that. But for $24, I can cut Sony some slack. It won't hurt to spend a few extra dollars for paper sleeves. I'm probably not going to rewatch this that much anyway.

Sony is also releasing Married With Children in a couple of weeks in similar packaging.

Ok, I bought the set for $23.99 today during my lunch break. When I got home, I immediately opened it up and inspected all 17 discs. They were immaculate. No scratches whatsoever!! I'm glad that cheap plastic spindle didn't scratch the discs. That was my main concern. I immediately transferred them to slim jewel cases. I had a bunch of them lying around the house collecting dust.

This should be a fun series to watch. But I was skimming through the discs and noticed that Red Foxx is missing in the end of Season 3 and in the beginning of Season 4. That really sucks!! I sure hope I can watch those episodes where he's missing. This show is nothing without Foxx.

Foxx had a contract dispute and missed a few episodes. Some of them were still good without him.

Fred was only gone 4 episodes in season 3
Ep. 21: Tyranny, Thy Name Is Grady was pretty good one were Grady is put in charge of the house and kept Aunt Esther out and preventing Lamont from bringing girls home.

Ep. 23: The Way to Lamont's Heart was a good one also. Lamont's looking for a little lovin', but new girlfriend Judy is looking to settle down. When Lamont tells Judy he can't get married because his godfather Grady would disapprove, Judy sets to winning Grady's approval with a smile and a smoked pork butt, which sets Grady jumping to conclusions.

Season 4 Ep.1: The Surprise Party Fred returns

Well it looks like I gave this DVD set quite a promotion. J&R is now out of stock. Luckily I grabbed my copy on Monday, but they only had 3 left at the time.

BTW- If many of you are holding off on this release because you're waiting for a Blu-ray copy, then good luck. This show looks like it was filmed on video, so the picture quality is a little on the poor side. So, this is the best Sanford and Son will ever look.
