Default Does it matter what class/speed SD card you use for bdlive?

Hi folks,

getting a new Panasonic BD310 later today, want to pick in an SD card to go with it for BDlive.. the shop are selling class 10 card which are the fastest but they are a bit pricey.. i have an older class 2 card at home... will it affect disc load time much is i use a class 2 card versus a class 10 card?

Cheers,
Mick

The only thing the SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards are used for when playing back Blu-ray movies is the BD-LIVE feature. On the Panasonic models using a Verzion FIOS super fast Internet connection I have seen a increase in speed downloading HD trailers to a SDHC card when I use class 10 cards. 30 MB per second SD cards works great for downloading HD trailers while playing HD trailers already on the card at the same time. I would not recommended a card below 15MB per second for multi-tasking in BD-LIVE. 30MB per second and higher will offer the greatest performance. To take advantage of faster cards one needs to have a very fast Internet download package.

Also for BD-LIVE I have found that 4GB minimum storage is what is needed if you plan on downloading all the HD trailers and extras for some titles. 1GB is not enough storage space for some movies that have the BD-LIVE feature. I end up erasing the card after each movie with 4GB to free up room for the next title. A 64GB or larger card would be ideal for those that plan on keeping HD trailer downloads but the cost of the card goes way up.

The Panasonic players also load some movies better with an active BD-LIVE connection.
