Default Is This A Good Deal??

I came across a sound system receiver at Future shop on sale for $380. I want to know if you guys think this is a good deal. I am thinking about picking it up and getting the speakers and sub later on.

Thanks

Its not a bad receiver for us in Canada is there better out there of course there is but we are being ripped of with the prices compared to the US versions .

I have for now the older brother from that model long short story : i want to upgrade to the new Elite - 53 , so i made a committeemen and sold my 1125 to a friend and got is 919 that was mine also before , and i can say that this receiver takes care of the job .

That receiver has the improvement of a LAN port and 1 more HDMI in for us Canadians its a great price but if it is a open box try to negotiate a bit the price

From what I see of the receiver it offers a fair amount of inputs and options and the price seems fair enough. The reviews from other owners show they are happy with the performance but the best person to answer your question is really you. Will this receiver perform the tasks you want it to; will it drive your speakers, however many you have, to your liking; does it have enough inputs to support all your equipment? I checked your profile and without any idea what you have and how you want to use it I can't offer anything more than that. Good luck with your decision.

It does have everything I am looking for in a sound system receiver. I have not made up my mind, chances are I will not get it. If I were to get, It would be in storage, Untill I get some speakers and a Sub. I had no plans on getting a system, then I saw the price of the reciever

The Onkyo - 708 is a good option since it as pre outs regarding the speakers and sub ... if you save a bit more money you can get better speakers and a better sub .

Are you in located in the US or Canada ????

Default To Blurayjunkie

the deal is decent.

Pro: the price
con: junior level Pioneer AVR doing TrueHD dTS-MA at louder volume could feel a bit harsh. Do you tend to play loud?
Elite level and the Class-D AVRs are good.

Checked the spec it is a "High Current" receiver alright.

For the money, I shall get a junior Marantz

Put down $200 more, I already can get a even better and more powerful Marantz.

If you want to do Blu-Ray 3D in the future, look at 3D blu-ray players with 2 HDMI outputs. For a budget model available in Canada, is Panasonic 310. However the junior Marantz NR1402 already supports HDMI 1.4, you can also go with 3D blu-ray players with single HDMI output, again Panasonic or Pioneer brand budget model is compatible.

Not sure where you are, Samsung D6700 is available in the States but not Canada (you can buy from B&H Audio Video to ship to Canada).

Hi All,
thanks for your response,...

i now finalized between 2 options as 609 not even have audyssey multi eq which is much needed for new beginer like me

1. reciever : onkyo tx nr708
front tower speaker : boston acoustic A360
sub: boston acoustic asw650

2. reciever : denon 2311
front tower speaker : boston acoustic A360
sub: boston acoustic asw650

as i heared that denon is much reliable and have same features as onkyo with only 5 watts less power. Also denon is very good for music listners like me ...but lacks networking feature..(read all these comments from most of the audio forums)

please suggest me which configuration suits my style as i listen mostly yto music....

note : I am from india and that is the reason i didnt tell the price as most of audio phile are from other countries
