Hello there peoples, I was recently going through my TVs picture settings and noticed that I had my HDMI Black Level at Low instead of Normal. What is the recommended setting for this?
I noticed that the Low setting gives a good level of blacks but at the cost of losing image details. When set to Normal I get a brighter black at some points. When at low it almost looks like when you select Dynamic Contrast to the highest level. However I did like the darker feel to it only when watching 3D content from DirecTV. |

I use the low black level for broadcast TV and just use the regular brightness control from there. 3D usually pops over to an auto setting where the blacks are lighter. The reason they do this is because the glasses darken slightly so in theory, it should even things out. Because the 3D is not overly high contrast, the brighter blacks give you better detail in those darker areas.
