Not quite a double-dip. Jackass 3.5 is supposed to be some of the stuff that was cut from Jackass 3, so the entire film should be compiled from previously-unseen footage.

Very much: Double Dipping IMO. It was stuff they could've given us with the first release. Both versions on the same disc, no excuse.

Yep.

Corrected for you above.

They released a BD with bonus features... minus:

-An hour of bonus features with 30 minutes allotted to exclusive deleted scenes and bloopers.
-Featurette "Jackass: The Beginning"
-Featurette "Jackass European Tour."

Blatant double dip, especially so soon. It's not like someone walked into Paramount's vault and thought "oh my I can't believe I found unrelease footage!" ... of a movie that came out mere months ago.

Yes, it is all-new material.

And it is not "found footage" either, it is footage that just did not work for all audiences. The same thing happened with Jackass 2 where there was so much stuff that the material that did not click with a majority of audiences ended up in Jackass 2.5.

The great thing about doing 2.5 & 3.5 this way is that they can be presented as a complete film with titles, transitions, proper story arc, etc. If it was simply included on the original releases, the best this footage could be presented is anamorphic widescreen (2.5)/1080p24 (3.5) with people have to sit through the material with poor transitions and no storytelling.

Awesome. I streamed 2.5 from Netflix last weekend and there was enough footage to be its own movie. Looking forward to 3.5!

why?

it's an entirely different film. they made so much footage for the film they could have made multiple films out of it. so...they did.

this is NOT jackass 3, directors or extended cut. these are DIFFERENT skits. there does not appear to be a combo pack of 3 and 3.5, so anyone wanting all of it still has to buy both.

this is the same thing they've done in the past, and the wikipedia page for the film has mentioned 3.5 for about half a year now. it's just finally coming to fruition.

This.

It's like Anchorman and Wake Up Ron Burgundy. There was simply so much footage shot that another film could be made.

There is no Jackass 1.5 but there was an unrated version.

With Jackass 2 they shot so much stuff but there was a lot of footage that wouldn't work with theatrical audiences. The producers figured that fans of Jackass wouldn't have a problem having that on home video so Jackass 2.5 was edited together to create a proper narrative.

Jackass 2.5 eventally led to Jackass 3 and again there was a lot that wouldn't work with theatrical audiences. Fans of Jackass would now be able to see new material.

In the context of putting it with Jackass 3... it would make a very long section and Paramount would have to make the two disc set, a three disc set. On top of that, it would delay Jackass 3's home video release since both 2.5 and 3.5 are stand-alone films complete with intros, interstituals, and on-screen graphics.

This is totally new footage than what you saw in the theaters. Johnny Knoxville was on Opie & Anthony and mentioned that there was talk of bringing this to theaters before a home release. Obviously they scraped that idea but yea for any one confused this is 100% NEW content.
