Hi would anybody be able to put me in the right direction of purchasing a home theatre kit. I have a maximum of £2500 to spend. What I am looking for is two frontstanding speakers, centre speaker, two rear speakers and an amp/reciever (i'm not sure of the difference between the two??). I would like black in colour if that would help. Thanks

Hi,
I took the liberty of adding a Union Jack to your thread, so its more easily visable by our U.K. members. I did so as they are more familiar with pricing and would likely be able to help you a bit more. In US/CAN $'s this means about $4,000, which is a really nice budget , and I'm sure you'll be able to find something to suit your needs. |

Most people around here respect the B&W speakers but would still recomend you get out to listen to them first. as I recall they had a pretty neutral but laid back sound that would be good for longer listening sessions.
Thanks, T |

Hi Bobby, I noticed you had the same TV as me, would you know what the difference between an amp and a receiver is and would you recommend me go for an Onkyo?

The receiver has up to 7.1 channels of amplification to power your speakers. An amplifier itself is often used with a pre-amp receiver, where-in the receiver acts as the control center and the amplifier is connected using the receiver. Onkyo is a very good, solid brand. I would suggest looking into the features you are interested in and go from there. Check reviews and do some demoing at a store with some speakers you like and see how everything works out for you.
