Default Close Encounters: Blu-ray Essentials or 30th Anniversary version?

Which one would you go with? Does it matter?

Yes, I have the 30th Anniversary as well. Remarkable package, comes with an interesting photo booklet. Not sure about the other version but also contains the 3 different versions released via live streaming.

I was able to secure this package from the bargain bin. Love those scores .

Ditto to those that say the 30th anniversary edition. You get each version of the film, a cool booklet, and a nice package. Its cheap now too - no reason not to get the good one.

If i'm not mistaken, the 30th Anniversary Edition contains 2 discs, right?

None of the "Essentials" releases contain bonus discs, just the feature discs. I guess that's why they're cheaper (sometimes )

Don't know what the price difference in your area is, but up in Toronto, it's a $4 difference... $4 for a bonus disc, a poster and an awesome box. Seems like a no-brainer to me

Definitely The 30th Anniversary 2 disc Edition. I have the Essential Edition which I bought right before they dropped the price on the 2 disc 30th Ed. My luck as usual ....

The 30th Ann version is really an epic release. All three versions of the film and the extras are outstanding. I think the lamented page which contains the original theatrical poster on one side with a chart explaining the differences between all three movies is really cool! The documentaries are phenomenal. This was a perfect release.
