The Fall Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

Acorn Media will bring Gillian Anderson's new five part series The Fall (2013) to Blu-ray on 17 June.

This just premiered last night on BBC2. Anybody catch it? The reviews I've seen for the first episode have been highly laudatory.

I'm going to watch it on iPlayer. It might be a bit too gritty for me. A lot of the crime-dramas in the UK are a bit over-the-top these days.

It definitely had a dark and gritty tone and built up the suspense well. I can't really compare it to any other show, I don't watch many BBC dramas or new shows...

But it will be hard to take a new direction when the roles show no sign of drying up. Unlike many actresses, Anderson has no complaints about lack of work for 40-plus women and, so far, she’s resisted tampering with her appearance.
‘Plastic surgery does cross my mind. I remember a couple of years ago looking in the mirror when I was putting on make-up for a play, I noticed some changes.
'I was so shocked that for a few seconds I convinced myself I’d eaten something I was allergic to. Then I realised: “No, that's what happens.” It’s weird.
'We think we’re invincible in some way, that age isn’t going to touch us, so your response when you see the skin on your hands and your forearms changing is, “Ooh, aah, what the…?”
'There was a period of time thinking, “Surely something can be done without having to be cut into?” Then eventually you think, “Oh, there’s not.”
‘But I’m very aware the women I admire in the public eye don’t do anything. Judi Dench, her beautiful face, and Charlotte Rampling, there are so many women who have allowed themselves to get old naturally, and the fact is you can always tell when something’s been done.
'I’d like to get to the point where I would look in the mirror and not feel bad but celebrate the natural process, rather than give the impression that something’s wrong.’

Thin is a great show. I'm proud to say I was a crew member working on this. We shot it over 12 weeks last spring in Belfast. It's a great story, keep watching.

I watched the first episode on I-Player earlier and thought it was quite good, obviously need to see the whole series before I can give a definitive verdict but it certainly wasn't "absolutely awful".

Maybe I have more faith in people, but I don't see why she would explicitly discuss/say what she did if she had had some work done. Botox maybe, but not a face lift or whatever. Not that it necessarily MATTERS, but just sayin'

It was to me, you're probably in your early twenties or younger.
