Default Thirteenth Warrior -- My personal must buy Blue Ray

I know this movie didn't really do much at the box office (partly due to lack of marketing..IMHO) but this movie will be a must buy for me once released to Blue Ray. I have friends that would agree completely especially if we can get deleted scenes added back. Even the wife has seen this bad boy an ungodly amount of times

Any of you fans out there??

Have a great weekend everyone!

I can't stand Antonio Banderas but I do like him in 13th Warrior. Taken from the story "Eaters of the Dead" by Michael Crichton. From Wikipedia:

Crichton explains in an appendix that the book was based on two sources. The first three chapters are a retelling of Ahmad ibn Fadlan's personal account of his actual journey north and his experiences with and observations of the Rus', the early Russian people. The remainder is based upon the story of Beowulf.

I like the way the movie is filmed, some scenes would look outstanding in blu-ray. I'm a sucker for good Viking period movies....not many good ones out there. This is a really good movie and there is no reason why this shouldn't come out soon when the same company is putting out some real crap on blu.

I really enjoy this movie and would definitely buy it on Blu. Dennis Storhøi steals pretty much every scene

We like all the characters in this movie really well but Dennis Storhøi is our favorite also...

I read somewhere where Crichton and McTiernan butted heads on the film...Its to bad...Hopefully they go for the money and give us even more 13th joy...

I'm all over this movie if it gets blu-ray treatment. I've seen this movie probably 20 times or more, one of my all time favorite adventure movies.

oh, by the way, Herger is great!

I'm surprised it hasn't been announced, I think it became a relatively cult favorite on DVD. I'd gladly buy it, Jerry Goldsmith's score is brilliant.

The 13th Warrior would be an easy Blu buy. I'd pick it up long before goofball "action" films like Twister, Commando, or ID4. The film is a grand adventure in the classic style of Gunga Din, Treasure of Matecumbe, or The Man Who Would Be King -- with a dash of horror thrown in. It's a wonderful movie. I'll pick it up the day it ever streets on Blu-Ray.

And while we're talking about Vikings, I also can't wait for Terry Jones' Erik the Viking, another easy first day buy.

Vladimir Kulich was the actor who played the leader in that film. You know, there are roles that some people are just made for. That guy was perfect!

I really enjoyed that film as well. Likely blu for me as well when it comes out.

This is a no brainer for me too. But, considering when it was done and the excessive ringing in the DVD, the film might need to be remastered before bringing it to Blu.

This would be a definite must-buy for me as well. I enjoyed the original book and the movie although both are very different. Except for that scene where Ibn cuts down the broadsword (and even that had some good parts) the movie was wonderful beginning to end.

I'm a high school English teacher and I use this movie to show my students how a story like Beowulf is still being told today. I also love this film. I saw it on cable and was completely surprised by it. A great sleeper hit.

This is one of my all-time faves. I guess I'm kind of a weird cinephile because I love movies and have a large collection, but I almost never dive into the extra content, backstories, etc. I just really, really appreciate the art of a perfect film. That being said, I'm aware of all the drama behind 13th Warrior with McTiernan and everything, and how it ultimately ruined his life. A couple years back I wrote an impassioned letter to Disney to release it in North America, but I never heard anything back. There must be a way for us to get this ultimate motion picture in North America! Maybe a 4k edition...?
