United Kingdom [REC]3 Genesis (Sept 3 2012)

It's out today from E1. The French and Spanish editions have extensive extras. But does anyone know what extras are available on the UK edition?

I've got a copy on the way, so I'll let you know when it turns up.

Loved the first movie very much. Rented it initially then bought it because I thought it was so good.
Did think the 2nd wasn't that great and only saw at the cinema and have never seen it since.
but since seeing trailers for this movie, tempted to pick up Rec2 from Amazon 2nd handed and get the 3rd one on BD.
I am sure the price for it will be reduced soon?!

Saw it at a 'RECathon' trilogy night at my local indie cinema on Thursday, rec 3 is atrociously bad. Nothing like the first two and apart from the odd chuckle, it just feels so out of place from the previous two in terms of tone, style, tension and characters. Huge let down!

I love the first two films but will wait for a rental on this one. Reviews have been very mixed. The trailer reminded me of a trashy modern 'Demons' type experience. Do you think they were right to finally drop the handheld look of the original 2 films?

It's quite tonally different - think EVIL DEAD III, perhaps - but it works well on its own terms as a kind of side-project. Quite funny, lots of inventive gore and not completely divorced in style from the first two. I believe there's a fourth film coming that will tie in more closely to the other two. It's obviously divisive enough to recommend watching before buying but with the right expectations, I think people will enjoy it.

The making-of doc runs 112 minutes (!).

3 mins of out-takes. 22 mins of deleted scenes.

The embossing work on Rec Genesis is quite nice.

Really enjoyed this. Much more fun than the other 2. If you are after tension and scares, then it's not really going to compare well to 1/2.

If you want a fresh setting and some romance
[Show spoiler]see the ending),
you can do much worse.

Add the plentiful extra features and this is well worth a purchase.

I quite enjoyed it myself, plus the main chick is hot . The first is still my fave, I just hope they end it with this 4th one out next year.

Why mess with a good thing, though? I mean, if you like each one, people should want more to be churned out until a stinker pops up. Then again, for me, the stinker was this one. It was one of the bigger letdowns I remember having in theaters. The decision to change the dark tone of the first two to misplaced humor and faux-romance was such a misfire. Plaza proved that Balaguero was the REAL brains behind the first two, which I feel are excellent films. [REC] is to Alien as [REC] 2 is to Aliens while [REC] Genesis is the Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. With that in mind, I still have high hopes for the next installment since Balaguero is going to take charge with that one and if it turns out great, I wouldn't be up in arms if a 5th one is made...as long as Balaguero or anyone other than Plaza takes the reigns on it.
