Default What is the difference between UK release of Hostage and US release?

Is the PQ and AQ and extras the same and are they both uncut?

UK release states it is DTS-HD Master Audio English 5.1 but the actual audio track is DTS-HD High-Resolution English 5.1. There is a DTS-HD MA English 2.0 audio option though.

That is correct. The U.S. version is DTS-HD MA 5.1 only while the U.K. version is DTS-HD MA 2.0 and DTS-HD HR 5.1

Are the extras on the UK disc in PAL format (and thus probably won't play on my US player)?

Bottomline: if you're an American, which is the best version to own?

I actually bought both, but they're both still in shrinkwrap. Just wondering which one to open and which one to sell on eBay. Thanks!

Yes, DTS-HD HR is lossy but affords a higher bit rate than standard DTS.

I actually had the same question, so thanks for answering it! Sounds like (at least as far as audio goes) the American version is the way to go.

Any reasons to consider the UK version though? Better picture quality? Special features in HD that are standard def on US version? Thanks again.

To the original poster- I own both, and can confirm that the extras listed on the back are the same for both. However, since I haven't opened them yet (until I can figure out which I should keep), I can't confirm if the UK extras will actually play on a US player.

Anybody have insight into the differences in PQ?
