Default Media server help

Hey guys, I want to stream Blu-rays and DVD's from my PS3. I have absolutely no idea where to begin. I did a search here and can't find what I'm looking for. I have a Blu-ray drive in my PC, but I can't use it as a HTPC.

What software do I need to rip my Blu-rays, and DVD's? What format do they have to be in for the PS3 to play them?

Please any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can only stream from a PC to a PS3, not the other way around.

"PS3 media server" does that nicely. You can't mediastream blu rays though, but you can mediastream standalone video files/music or pictures.

Ok thanks. How about ripping my BD's to an external HDD and plugging it in the PS3?

If the movies are ripped onto any HDD they can be connected to PS3 or streamed via PC.

PS3 will only read FAT32 formatted drives, unless something has changed, and those are limited to 4GB files sizes.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll have to invest in an HTPC. I have two 400 disc DVD changers and over 300 Blu-rays, I don't want to buy another changer, so I'm hoping to get all these discs into the HTPC.
