Ice Cube and Chris Tucker Planning Friday Sequel

Ice Cube and Chris Tucker are planning a Friday sequel
The 1995 comedy Friday launched the acting career of Chris Tucker, where he played the hilarious drug dealer Smokey alongside Ice Cube. Tommy Lister, who played Deebo in Friday, reveals both Ice Cube and Chris Tucker are hatching plans for a new Friday sequel. Here's what Tommy Lister had to say about this new project below.

"There's a lot of conversation, that's hopefully going down next week with Ice Cube and Chris Tucker about doing one more Friday. This is going to be the big one. We talked on the phone a couple of weeks ago, and I'm going on Chris' private jet to do something in St. Louis, where I chase Chris on the stage."

Ice Cube wrote the original Friday, along with DJ Pooh, but it isn't known who is writing this untitled sequel. Friday, which grossed $27.9 million from a $3.5 million budget, spawned the sequels Next Friday and The Friday After Next, although Chris Tucker did not star in those follow-ups.

Friday was released April 26th, 1995 and stars Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Nia Long, Tommy Lister, John Witherspoon, Anna Maria Horsford, Regina King, Paula Jai Parker. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray.

Smile Another Friday (2014)

I'm down.

Quote:
New Line Cinema is in talks with Ice Cube to write, produce and star in another installment of the Friday series. Cube could be in line to direct it as well, but all that is being worked out. A TMZ report says that Chris Tucker as being in serious talks to reprise his role in the film. They have had discussions and Cube wants him, I’m told, but it’s unclear whether that part is a reality. For one thing, when I interviewed Tucker several years ago for Playboy, he told me that because of his religion, he was reticent to be depicted in the pot smoking mode as his character Smokey was in the original film. He went as far as to say that he probably now wouldn’t have taken that memorable stint in Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown, because of the verbal explosion of profanity and liberal use of the “N” word. Stay tuned.

Well overdue and a lil late but better late than never I guess. The first film is a classic and the 2 sequels are decent at best. Got Em!!

You have to admit, "Fat b**ches need love too, Craig!" is a classic line. Urban classic, but classic nonetheless.

I'm in if Chris Tucker returns. The sequels were pretty forgettable without his character, IMO. If Tucker doesn't want to portray a pothead anymore, then perhaps there's some material to be mined from a sober Smokey, trying to stay clean at all costs.

I haven't seen the first one in a long ass time so I can't remember what Smokey is like but I think Ice Cube and Mike Epps are hilarious together, especially in the second film

They are ok in the sequels but again their chemistry doesnt touch Cube & Smokey in the original plus it was way funnier period! Actually Cube & Epps best film together is All About the Benjamins. Got Em!!

I've only seen the 2nd Friday, not the 1st one. I doubt that I'll see this, and I won't see it in theaters, unless it's a $1. Way too expensive otherwise.
