United Kingdom Holy Flying Circus...DVD ONLY!!

The brilliant BBC drama / comedy Holy Flying Circus which dramatically recreated the days of the Python crew following the release of Life Of Brian is being released by Freemantle Media in the UK on 6th Feb 2012....but DVD only!
What the hell!!!...this is 2011 isnt it??
Why no Blu ray?....it was shown on BBC HD channel and looked great, so to see a dvd only release is baffling.

It's a shame as I was convinced there would be a Blu-Ray release, but looking on Amazon just now for it, I have noticed that the Almost The Truth blu-ray is now £5.99. I was still buying DVDs up to a few months ago and nearly bought this but it was £18.99 at the time. Glad I held out, as I can now get the Blu-Ray for a quarter of the price

I don't like buying DVDs now unless it is BFI, Second Run or Eureka where there is also a good reason for releasing a film on DVD only, and in the case of Second Run, they only release DVDs

It's still happening quite frequently, especially in television releases. The BBC must not have faith that the blu-ray market is there for this one-off release. Better to see how well it does on DVD first than to jump straight in is probably their thinking.
