Default Dolls (1987) Coming to Blu-Ray?

Any word on if/when this title's coming to blu-ray? Watched it again a couple weeks ago, and it really is a great horror film. Would love to upgrade my DVD of it to bluray, but the entry for it on this site doesn't have any details. Any one know if a blu of this movie is in the works?

Hope that they do. This would be a day one buy for me, especially considering that the DVD's been out of print for so long

I watched it a few years ago for the first time with my roommate and we both thought it was great. Definite buy for me.

Yea, I like it a bit more than Child's Play as far as killer doll movies are concerned. This one's more grounded in the horror genre; it doesn't have as much of the comedic tone that Child's Play seemed to have at times, IMO. That being said, I really like both movies.

Really? I thought both were comedic, but that Child's Play was scarier and more of a horror film. Dolls was like a horror comedy, I can think of one laugh out loud scene involving a bear. I've only seen it once though so Child's Play is still my favorite. I really like both as well though.

I think both have comedic elements, I just found Dolls to be creepier overall. I think I had high expectations going into Child's Play, whereas I had none going into Dolls. I like both movies and have both in my collection, but Dolls is in my top 5 favorite horror movies; Child's play is hardly in my top 20.

I saw that. Hopefully whoever has it releases it on Blu-ray sooner rather than later; this movie's way to good to only exist as an out of print DVD.

I need to watch it again, I don't remember any creepy scenes. Just the scene involving a bear and some toy soldiers.

Haha, I feel the same way about Child's Play, for the most part. Ultimately though, any movie involving killer dolls is going to be hard to take completely seriously.

Is there anyone besides Scream Factory that has ties with MGM and would possibly be releasing this? It seems like horror releases on Blu tend to either be totally obscure, or relatively well-known, with few titles in-between. In the Scream Factory thread it got some attention when it was brought up, so I'd think it would sell decently. It can be had new on DVD for around 10 dollars now, but near Halloween the price spiked up to about 25 dollars used. Seems like an October release for this could be a home run.

considering as a kid, I had constant nightmares of my sister's dolls coming to life and chasing me, this seemed right up my alley - the scene that was the creepiest was

[Show spoiler]when it was revealed that little shrunken people were inside the dolls/toys - specifically the bashing of one of the doll's face and seeing that shriveled up face was damn freaky .... whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

I found the first few Child's Plays absolutely nightmarish as a kid, and still think the first one has held up. It has creepy, horrific scenes and dark humor.

Another scary doll film I love is Dead Silence.

I didn't watch Child's Play until I was 14 or 15, so that's probably why I didn't find it as scary as most. I'll have to check out Dead Silence.

It definitely preys on fears more relatable to children (but there are definitely many adults with a fear of dolls).

I've screened Dead Silence to a couple groups of college friends, and each group was terrified. It has a lot of things that people are afraid of - dolls, clown dolls, ghosts...

I was watching Dolls on MGMHD about a month ago, so there is a transfer ready when a distributor is ready to license it.

Kind of a silly, creepy animated doll movie, doesn't really strike me as a must have title but it's a fun little movie.

Can't understand why this hasn't been released yet. There's a transfer ready, and yet this movie takes a backseat to more obscure titles that weren't done nearly as well. I don't see how a company could go wrong with a bare bones release of this for $15-$20.
