They may even be waiting to release season 2 as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack to release season 1 and with having season 1 as a combo pack in a limited edition box that can hold both seasons. 1 of the mods will edit this thread once Funimation does decide to actually release season 1 and/or season 2. |

Dear Blu-ray.com.
How about in the future you don't let people who have issues with a country's past review films from said country. I found the racism in this review uncalled for and out of place. Thanks. |

I'm surprised you saw any "racism" in my comments which very briefly recounted Japan's role in WWII. They were an Imperialistic power who attacked several nations and they suffered horrible consequences. Nothing racist about that. But I also quickly went on to clearly state I understood how some people would roll their eyes by my being troubled by that when it's "only" an anime after all.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your taking the time to comment.
I don't think it is right to say this is "revisionist history" when it is a completely fantastical story. This story is completely detached from any actual historical events (unless the Japanese did in fact have a secret squadron of flying witches fighting aliens during the time period in question in which case I stand corrected). Heck, the story isn't even set on our earth. It has fictional nations. Sure they are analogs of our own, but it's clearly a completely fictitious world. To inject what you did into the review when it is completely irrelevant comes off as having ulterior motives. Technology and fashion were unique during that period of history and it seems a little unfair to say the Japanese can't create stories using elements of that period unless they also include all the distasteful parts of their own history as well. What happened in WWII was tragic and sad on all sides, but I see no relevance to it here. |

But the point is (as I mention in my review), it isn't detached from the actual history of WWII. Events and (especially) real life people are referenced repeatedly, if obliquely (i.e., Charlotte Yeager instead of Chuck). That was the whole reason I brought up the "real" history of Japan in the first place and why I said the show wanted to have its cake and eat it, too. If it had been entirely "detached", I wouldn't have mentioned Japan's actual history.
