Default Using Coaxial in place of LFE cord?

My subwoofer only has a LFE port, but my cord broke. I only have access to a Coaxial cable, and if I use only one of the coaxial cords and run it from the LFE input on my subwoofer back to my receiver I get bass output. Am I only getting half of what I should, or is this basically the same thing as using a LFE cord?

Did you have one cable going from one output on your reveiver to one input on your sub? Are you now using one of these? :

If so, yeah, it's the same thing. The only difference is that a high quality sub cable probably has a heavier wire and better sheilding, but since the cable is only sending a line level, as opposed to a speaker level signal, it should be just fine.

Yeah, you got it exactly! Thanks! I'm just a bit strapped for cash right now and can't afford to go pick up a new LFE cable. Thanks for the help!

Any cable with adequate shielding will work fine. If the cable doesn't have the necessary shielding you may hear some humming/noise from the subwoofer----particularly if the cable run is unusually long or along side power cords. if you don't hear anything like that----you're good. No need to purchase another cable. But if you do, don't spend much.

Also, old composite video cables tend to work great for subs because they need to have decent shielding for the video signal.
