Default Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – PS Move and Mouse+Keyboard Support – Full Preview!

Official press release:

Quote:

Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO).
Targeted for release via Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (for PC and Mac) in early 2012, CS: GO will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched exactly 12 years ago (CS beta 1, August 1999).
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.
"Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999," said Doug Lombard, VP of Marketing at Valve. "For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac."
CS: GO is being developed by Valve in cooperation with Seattle-based Hidden Path Entertainment. The title is targeted for release in early 2012 and will be playable at this year's PAX Prime and London Games Festival.

Still disappointed with the lack of Half Life 2: Episode 3 news (WHY THE HELL DID THEY LEAVE US WITH THAT
[Show spoiler]CLIFFHANGER
FOR SO LONG), but still, this is going on my radar. I already have CS:S on PC, but I think I'll settle with an expanded version on my PS3 (if it has Steam support, like Portal 2, of course).

Duh. Everyone runs faster with a knife.

At least the game will run on the latest Source build. Hope we get Steamworks support again like in Portal 2.

I don't have CS: Source, but at least we finally have Counter Strike on current-gen consoles. Too bad there still isn't any Episode 3/Half-Life 3 announcement.

Trust me, when people start to see that it's a reskin of every game since CoD4, majority will start to cry foul.

I just hate every article I read that starts comparing it to that game cant we just agree they are different styles . Look at everyone claiming that Battlefield 3 is better then Mw3 yet there has been no Multiplayer trailer yet.

Lets not get off topic though Counter strike will be a welcome edition .

This actually excites me very much so, especially the cross integration feature. I do play more cs:s than some people here though. I just hope they keep weapon bans for servers (I f*cking hate the AWP though), and do a better job of controlling grenade spam.

You should play it on PC, it's actually a very well made action shooter, with some of the best map designs for a multiplayer game. It's not really a tactical shooter in the traditional sense, nor is it as flashy as the new shooters, but it is atleast a very revolutionary multiplayer shooter at the time, such as removal of respawn during the match, and body hit detection (shooting an arm causes a different amount of damage compared to the shoulder for example). It actually stands pretty well for the test of time when most shooters are forgotten in the presence.

Round based teamplay and damage to extremities was in Action Quake 2, actually. And, I believe, the first plublic beta of both Action Half-Life and Counter-Strike were released around the same time.
