Default The Journey begins

My Dear Blurayer Forum members. I need your guidance. I just bought 5 bedroom house recently and I was seriously considering combining 2 room, smashing the walls between them and forming a larger HT Media room. I believe the room size is 11X12 and a wall seperates the next room which is also 11X12. Im hoping i can post a photo of one of the rooms here. Do you guys think i can get away with a room size 11x12 for a HT or would it be better if i dropped the wall between the rooms

This is viewing how wide the room is

This is viewing the front where the projector will be

I plan on installing in wall speakers for all 7 speakers due to the limited space if i dont end up breaking the wall

One of my co workers brought this to my attention....thought I might get a kick out of it! I think it can give you an idea of how things can play out for you if you wanted to take it that far.

Hey Walle! My room is only 12 feet wide so that would be plenty. If you could find a projector that would throw 100 inches at about 10- 10 1/2 feet you would be good. There are alot of smaller home theaters on here. You will probably only be able to fit 3 people in there, but if that is ok with you i'd go for it.

Hey Wall-E
[Show spoiler]sorry could not help myself there
, but if the wall between the two rooms is a none bearing wall than it would be great if you could combine the two rooms.

The bottom line is how much money you are willing/ wanting to spend.

Thou I cant tell with 100 percent certainty yet. Im more inclined to think there is no bearing wall in that space but im about to get an contractor to look at it for me to see. the thing is, I don't want to spend more than 1000 max on remodeling and I haven't even closed on the house yet. i do so next week

Usually taking a bedroom away is a no no resale wise. You will decrease the value of your home but if its not load bearing you could rebuild it when/if you go to sell it later. If you plan on being there a while I say go for it and enjoy your home. That's the fun part of being a homeowner.

Yea i thought about it too but since it 5 rooms i thought having 3 wont be too bad. i dont have any kids yet. Now much do you suppose it'll cost me to do this if the wall isnt a structure wall? i will also post the speakers i intend to buy from monoprice. the thing is, I would really love to have a home gym too so if i dont break the wall, i can make the other room a gym. but if i break it down, then my gym dreams go away.

If you can DIY it shouldn't cost too much. If you want a gym too then you have your answer and its cheaper.

Here is the plan to the house. So have 5 rooms. i can use any one of the rooms to become my HT. Im currently thinking Room 4 and 6 to become the new HT. But there are other rooms i can pick, like room 5 for example, its a little bigger it just that it has too many windows. can you guys please help me point out which rooms that would be best or combine? Im very interested and curious to hear what you guys have to say

If it's just you or you and the wife then the game room with an electric drop down screen in front of the windows gets my vote Did you have the house built?

No it was already standing. thats why i have to make the changes. I want the game room to put a pool table in so i wont be putting it there. besides, there's too much light coming in there from all 4 windows

Room 5 would be nice, but i'm not sure about having the door to the bathroom in the theater. The windows you can always cover up so that's not a big deal.

Great theater Ive been looking into changing my bedroom into a theater since its the smallest room in the house I am going to have to change it a bit. Get rid of the bed and get a sectional couch with a sleeper on either side.

Something like this will do.

Ive also been meaning to get myself some new blinds or black out shades.
