USA Sleepaway Camp 4: The SurvIVor (The Final Cut) - Coming Soon to Blu-ray

SLEEPAWAY CAMP 4: THE SURVIVOR

Quote:
One of the big selling points for the Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit DVD box set, released in 2002, was a special bonus disc containing what was dubbed Sleepaway Camp IV: The Survivor. On the disc? About 30 minutes of production footage from an unfinished sequel, which would’ve been the fourth installment in the franchise.

More recently, Sleepaway Camp IV was finally finished with the addition of footage from the previous films, and then released onto both DVD and limited edition VHS.

Wikipedia explains the bizarre project…

“Filming began in October 1992 at Camp Tamarack in Oakland, New Jersey. Unfortunately Double Helix Films, the film’s production company, went bankrupt during this time, causing the production to shut down. Roughly 34 minutes of footage was shot before shut down. However, it was completed in 2012 by mixing the original footage with archive footage from the previous three films, and was given its own release.”

As reported by Sleepaway Camp Films over the weekend, The Survivor is now headed to Blu-ray in 2018, with the disc set to contain a new “Final Cut” of the film.

“The DVD is now on moratorium as we commence to completely recompile the movie, from the campground up!” they write. “The new edition will the “final cut”, be in hi-definition remastered quality and contain new extras. This long-lost sequel combined the original trilogy into one feature jam-packed with hidden easter eggs & revelations for the eagle-eyed hardcore fans – not to mention all 30 death scenes in a cavalcade of carnage, Angela-style!“

They add, “We’re looking to gauge interest so we can determine the number of copies we do for the run, so if this is something you’re interested in purchasing – LET US KNOW”

Head over to the Sleepaway Camp Films FB page to let them know you want it.

Return to Sleepaway Camp is actually really fun in a cheesy '00s slasher kinda way. It's far from the quality of the other three main films though.

As for the full version of The Survivor, I've never seen it but I'm interested.

Also worth noting, this won't be a BD-R. Sleepaway Camp Films confirmed on their facebook page that this will be officially pressed and limited.

Return was ok just not as good as 1-3. Survivor was really bad though.

Return is a masterpiece compared to this piece of shit, at least it had original cast members and Isaac Hayes to provide some entertainment. This isn't a movie, it's a clip show that barely runs an hour.

Clever use of IV in survivor. I don't think I've seen that before.

The Bloody Disgusting website is blocked on my work computer.

I can't imagine why.

Sure, but they should've left out the "4". It's supposed to be taboo to have repeating phrases (or numbers) in the title. See also Death Wish 5: The Face of Death

I had the bonus disc that came with the Survival Kit. I sold it off with the Survival Kit when I upgraded to the Scream Factory blu-rays.

Having seen that disc... I can't imagine this being even remotely watchable.

They should've done that in the first place rather than the crapppy VHS footage on the old DVD.

...so what about Return to Sleepaway Camp, with Alan "Your Ass Stinks!" in 1080p?

Question

So this is like Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2: A limited amount of new footage, padded out with footage from the previous films, to make a sequel?

Simmilar, except that they didn't actually finish filming this one. It's just some pick up shots and stock footage edited together by a fan. It's an interesting thing but not really a complete film.

I remember when I bought the DVD set when it was originally released watching the fourth disc and it really is just 30 minutes of someone walking through a forest. If memory serves there wasn't even any dialogue....

That's what I remember too. Shocking that they're still trying to exploit this series, but then again, not really shocking at all. It is insulting however that they think they can release anything called Sleepaway Camp and expect people to buy it. Then again, people will buy it. So it goes...

To be honest, this is pretty much a non-movie, but at least a proper copy with HD footage will be much easier to sit through than the nearly unwatchable DVD release.
