United Kingdom Lone Wolf And Cub Box Set Criterion UK

Just had an email from Criterion UK to say that they will be releasing Lone Wolf and Cub box set in March. Looks to have the same extras etc as the USA set. Great news , saves me importing the USA one....

Have Eureka lost the rights to Lone Wolf & Cub and Shogun Assassin?

Perhaps. Or it's possible they came to an arrangement with Criterion whereby they get to keep the existing DVD set in-print and Criterion gets BD only rights.

Either way it's great news.

Zatoichi next ?

I'm just glad my US copy arrived in pristine condition, and got it for a steal. Otherwise this would really bum me out - personally, but for everyone else, this is top news. One of my favourite Blu-ray releases, incredible package from top to bottom!

Really chuffed with this news! So glad i decided to hold off on importing as i thought we might get a UK release from MOC or Arrow but glad its the criterion version.

But the question is, do i do the same for the Before Trilogy or do i import? Hmmm

Happy enough with the $40 I paid, I imagine this will be a fair bit more over here, but really pleased to see a set like this coming from Criterion UK.

Yes, me too. And this is a great example of Criterion needing to follow Arrow's lead and, where possible, announce if a new title is going to receive a UK release as well.

Seems like plenty of interest in this set. Hopefully if it sells well I wonder if the Zatoichi set is a possibility?

Not sure why you think the UK one will cost more. Just from looking at the releases so far, the amazon uk prices seem to match or beat the cheapest prices you can get the US versions for (now that Barnes and Noble isn't allowing coupons during the criterion sales). I was even thinking of getting His Girl Friday from the UK next time I make an order from amazon UK because it will come out to cheaper than the $25 price that it will be during the criterion flash sale.

The $40 price for this at Amazon was a misprice as when they first listed they thought it only a 1 disk title and that is the standard US rrp for those. It's actual rrp was $100.

Given this is a 3 BD set I don't think we have seen one released by Criterion in the UK yet ? Their 2 disk sets like the Samurai Trilogy have been priced around £35 to begin with and these were not discounted in the pre Christmas discounting of Criterion UK titles.

I reckon it'll be about £50-60. Rather than price a title by the number of discs, it seems Criterion prefer to set a price based on the number of films actually on the discs (unless a film is counted as an extra, as with The Front Page on the His Girl Friday release or Shogun Assassin in this Lone Wolf & Cub set).
