I LOVED what Killen tried to do with Lone Star and was very upset at it's cancellation, and am also a big fan of Isaacs so I will be adding this to my list of 20 other pilots I am very excited for and hoping at least half of them make it to air, and at least maybe 3 or 4 can stay on the air, lol.

‘AWAKE’ -- “Awake” is an intriguing drama about a detective (Jason Issacs, "Harry Potter," “Brotherhood”) who finds he is leading an arduous double life that defies reality. When Detective Michael Britten (Issacs) regains consciousness following his family's car accident, he is told that his wife Hannah (Laura Allen, “Terriers”) perished but that his teen son, Rex (Dylan Minnette, “Saving Grace”), has survived. As he tries to put the pieces of his life back together, he awakens again in a parallel reality in which his wife is very much alive -- but his son Rex died in the accident. In order to keep both of his loved ones alive at one time, he begins living two dueling realities in parallel worlds, which churns up confusion -- in one moment, Michael and his wife debate about having another child to replace their son, while in the other reality, he is attracted to his son’s tennis coach, Tara (Michaela McManus, “The Vampire Diaries"), to fill the void from the loss of his wife. Trying to regain some normalcy, Michael returns to police work and solves crimes in both worlds with the help of two different partners -- Detective Isaiah “Bird” Freeman (Steve Harris, “The Practice”) and Detective Efrem Vega (Wilmer Valderrama, “That '70s Show”). Also starring are Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones (“24”) and BD Wong (NBC's “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) as therapists in each respective world. The series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. Kyle Killen (“Lone Star”) and Howard Gordon (“24”) are executive producers. David Slade (“Twilight: Eclipse,” “30 Days of Night”) also serves as executive producer and directed the pilot written by Killen.

This is an extremely complicated story line and one that would have been perfect for cable. I love this cast, I love this concept but this will be Killen's Lone Star 2.0

Five More Actors Cast

That '70s Show alum Wilmer Valderrama, The Practice veteran Steve Harris and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit co-star BD Wong have been cast opposite Jason Isaacs in NBC's drama pilot REM, from Lone Star creator Kyle Killen and 20th Century Fox TV. Also cast in the project, described as an Inception-style thriller, are Laura Allen (Terriers) and teen Dylan Minnette. REM centers on Detective Mark Britten (Isaacs), who wakes up after an accident to find he is living in two different realities, one in which he has killed his son Rex (Minnette) and one in which he has killed his wife Hannah. Valderrama will play Detective Richard Vega, Britten's gregarious new partner in one reality, while Harris will play a seasoned, cynical, wry-humored police detective who's Britten's partner in the other reality. Wong will play Britten's therapist in the reality where he has killed his son. Allen will play Rex's tennis coach, who has become his confidante in the wake of the recent loss of his mother. Valderrama's casting stems from his talent deal with 20th TV.

If viewers didn't have the attention span of a crack addict they might make shows like this huge hits on network, but since that'll never happen this is a show setup for failure. I wish we where wrong cause it sounds so damned good and the casting is so strong but that's how tv goes these days.

You know what they say, the good die young. And that goes for TV shows too. That seems to be a pattern. I'm so sick of my A.D.D. (and trust me, that's just an excuse) riddled generation. They spend all their time and money watching useless and terrible movies and tv so we continue getting shitty reality television and terrible sequels when more deserving things are killed off. I still feel burned that Freaks & Geeks got cancelled...I guess I'm lucky Lost lasted so long. I never would have expected that to be honest.

This show has so much potential, and it'll probably be pulled by mid season. I almost guarantee it. The Nielsen ratings are a joke...

There aren't too many of us young guys who love the classics, but I was raised on them so I guess that's why I have no patience or tolerance for things of my generation now. Everything that is popular tends to be complete and utter shit and things that are smart and loaded with talent fail.

Until Nielsen is adjusted to actually incorporate what people really watch, not what they guess and make up and exclude this will continue to happen. Huge changes need to be made soon.

No there really aren't. We're in the minority, Wylde. You and I are some of the few who appreciate good TV for what its worth. Movies and music too...My generation is just embarrassing....they like Jersey Shore.

Pilot Rarity: Laura Allen Promoted To Female Lead On NBC's 'REM'

A week ago, Terriers co-star Laura Allen got good news when she was cast in a supporting role on NBC's drama pilot REM. Today, which happens to be her birthday, she got even better news - in a pilot rarity, she was just bumped up to female lead of the project opposite Jason Isaacs. Meanwhile, Law & Order: SVU alumna Michaela McManus, who tested opposite Allen for the supporting role of Tara, has now been cast in that role.

REM, from creator/executive producer Kyle Killen and 20th TV, is described as an Inception-style thriller and centers on Detective Michael Britten (Isaacs), who wakes up after an accident to find he is living in two different realities, one in which he has killed his son Rex (Dylan Minnette) and one in which he has killed his wife Hannah (Allen) in a car accident. McManus will play Rex's tennis coach, who has become his confidante in the wake of the recent loss of his mother.

Trying out Allen for the Hannah role was an idea of former 24 showrunner Howard Gordon, who serves as exec producer/showrunner on the REM pilot. After what was described as a "terrific read" with Isaacs this afternoon, Allen landed the part. The cast of the pilot, directed/exec produced by David Slade, is now complete.

NBC Picks Up Playboy, Grimm and Awake

Deadline is reporting that NBC has given official series orders to three pilots; Playboy, Awake (previously REM) and Grimm.

From 20th Century FOX TV, Playboy stars Amber Heard and centers on the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963 while Awake stars Jason Isaacs (The Patriot, Harry Potter films) as an brain-injured cop who spends time solving cases in two different realities.

Grimm, from Angel's David Greenwalt, is about a cop investigating crimes in a world populated by real life fairy tale characters.

Title was changed to Awake it looks like.

I hadn't realized the name of the show had been changed to Awake until I just read about it's official pick up notice. All week I kept asking myself "WTF is Awake?" well now I know, and I am very happy as this is something I've very much been looking forward to.

NBC Picks Up 'Awake'

NBC just kicked off its second day of pickups with orders to Kyle Killen's Inception-style Awake (form. REM) and Chad Hodge's 1960s The Playboy Club. Both hail from 20th Century Fox TV and have been widely expected to get the nod. NBC seems to be going studio by studio, starting off with UMS' Whitney, Up All Night, Prime Suspect and Smash yesterday, now adding 20th TV's Awake and Playboy. NBC also just picked up another UMS pilot, the fairytale-themed Grimm, which didn't make the cut yesterday but remained in contention.

That sucks it's a mid season show. Hopefully it can do well enough to move to Fall for season 2 if we even get one.

Kyle Killen behind Fox' massive disaster Lone Star is the man behind this to. I LOVED Lone Star but complicated and network do not work. The several clips and promos I've seen for this show now look fantastic. This could easily be the best new show of the year, and I give it 3 episodes.....
