Most Over Rated Directors - Blu-ray Forum

What directors do you just think are over rated?

For me it's Romero. I just don't see what is the big deal with his films. To me they were boring. I watched Dawn of the Dead for the first time the other day and I was not into it at all.

so who you got?

robert redford or kevin costner easy, scorsese should have won for both raging bull and goodfellas, no question

Romero definitely, and I would add Uwe Boll.
Someone in Hollywood must think something good about him to allow him to continue making crap movies...

no i know what you mean. first viewing i was like "huh?", in fact i stopped it half hour in. now, i can say its one of my all-time favorite films. why?

as far as overrated? for me its Fincher. dont get me wrong, i think he makes good films, but IMO no better than an average director. i still dont get why his work is so acclaimed. perhaps i'm not seeing something?

dang I'm sorry man. haha But yea I should go back and watch his films again but I'm glad you understand where I am coming from. that is a good idea about the mall though, I'll give him that!

I agree with you totally about Fincher. I love CCOBB and Zodiac, and like Fight Club. but he does receive too much praise.

yeah, I did like Fight Club, but not much beyond that. Oh well, maybe i'll watch Zodiac again one day. That one was okay so perhaps worth another viewing.

Clint Eastwood...

Besides Mystic River, I found all his films to be average

Unforgiven is just another forgettable western.
Million Dollar baby was very good, but comeee oooonnn, its not THAT good >.>
Mystic River was his best film

I completely disagree about Fincher. Se7en and Zodiac are two of my all-time favorite movies, Fight Club, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and The Game were all very good movies. And Panic Room is pretty good. That's just about everything he's ever done and all of them are at least pretty good in my opinion.

i kinda felt the same way till i saw gran tourino and rewatched unforgiven many years later

Don't forget Letters from Iwo Jima, easily one of the best WWII films since they started making WWII films.
