Default Panasonic DMP-BDT500 Blu-ray 3D Player (Sound and Vision magazine review link)

Panasonic DMP-BDT500 Blu-ray 3D Player

The Panasonic DMP-BDT500 is a 2012 Blu-ray player that has went out of production (It contains a 480i composite video output, and per the AACS analog hole mandate it has went out of production).

On December 24th 2013 Sound and Vision magazine posted a review of the discontinued 2012 Panasonic DMP-BDT500. Sometimes it takes a year or over a year for a new product to be reviewed. The Sound and Vision magazine review was interesting to read, however there is at least one error in the Sound and Vision magazine review. The Panasonic DMP-BDT500 has a 480i composite video output, but the Sound and Vision Magazine review by mistake claims that there is only a dual HDMI output with no analog video output.

Quotes from the Sound and Vision magazine review that contains incorrect information

“You won’t find any support for the analog video connections of yesteryear, but there are dual HDMI outputs for running video to your display while running a direct audio connection to an A/V receiver or processor.”

Video Outputs: HDMI 1.4a (2)” (480i composite video is not mentioned at all in the review).

The 2012 Panasonic DMP-BDT500 has 7.1 analog audio outputs and uses a SDXC, SDHC, or SD memory card for BD-LIVE. With a list price of $350 for the Panasonic DMP-BDT500 some audiophiles will prefer an OPPO or Sony Blu-ray player that plays SACD’s (OPPO also plays DVD-Audio discs). Those that are not interested in SACD’s and DVD-Audio discs can find this classic discontinued 2012 Panasonic DMP-BDT500 Blu-ray 3-D player on clearance from some Amazon dealers for around $199.99.

Default Bought one, Love it !!!!!

What made my mind up to buy was the superior audio internals. My AV
Reciever doesn't support HDMI but I do get excellent audio using the
optical (TSOLINK) output. BTW, I paid $199 on Amazon.
Had to send it to TX for warranty repair for DVD audio skipping but
has been flawless since. I prefer using its streaming feature over my
Panasonic smart 3D HDTV because of the better audio. Now all I need
is an AV hideaway so I can play it at a level it deserves!!!!

Let me be the first to wish all members a Very Happy New Year !!!!!
