Did PC Richards stop paying commission to their employees?

When I used to go to PC Richards in the past, I used to literally get stalked by several employees. Obviously, they get paid commission on sales. Therefore, they're trying to go after me so they can sell something to me and make money. It used to drive me off the wall and will actually chase me away rather than encourage me to buy something. Well due to that annoyance, I've never been to that store in a long time. But I had to go there the other day to buy a new toaster oven. Well, to my surprise, no employees were following me. I was trying to find this particular toaster oven that I researched and couldn't see it displayed. So, I went to the nearest employee and asked if they had it. He just replied right away, "no," and that's it. He didn't even check in the computer or anything. So, I decided to go to another employee, but then this other person got a call on his personal cell phone and therefore, he didn't want to help me. I knew it was a personal call because he was just laughing and joking around when he was talking on the phone. I finally tried to see if I can find another employee, but the others were too busy goofing off and chatting with each other.

I couldn't believe it. Usually at PC Richards, employees will go after you to sell you something. Now, all of a sudden, they're goofing off and don't want to be bothered with customers.

Did they stop paying commission to these employees?

They still make commissions. The guy that sold me a television I bought last week told me they do. I think you're in NYC, right? There are two in Queens that I go to and both have cool employees. The one in Bayside on Francis Lewis Blvd and the one in College Point. I just bought my television at the College Point location.

Odd because like I said, they didn't want to help me. Maybe it was because I was only looking to buy a cheap, toaster oven and not something expensive like a big screen TV, stove, washing machine, etc. Ridiculous!

I totally get it. In my experience, a lot of commissions based employees have a weird attitude. They do not want to help you now if it means they will not make money on you now.

What I mean is that some don't want to bother with customers who aren't going to make them a big commission (in your situation, possibly because you're getting a "cheap" toaster) even if that means the customer will return later to make a bigger purchase with that specific salesperson because of a prior good experience.

I'm guessing they lost any future purchases from you and that sucks for them more than it sucks for you.
