Default Just had the full Blu-ray experience!

Well I finally caved and bought myself a new surround sound receiver and subwoofer to go with my Paradigm speakers I've had for years. I sold my old Denon receiver that didn't support the HD sound format about three years ago so I've been without surround for a long time now. Also I replaced my old broken subwoofer with a brand new Klipsch sub that is just awesome.

So tonight was my first ever experience with Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD. All I can say is WOW!!! I couldn't freakin believe the sound quality. I feel like I'm seeing watching everything for the first time when I hear them with the HD sound. I demoed quite a few of my BDs and now I feel like I want to run out and grabs stacks more to play on the system.

If there is anyone out there that hasn't upgraded to the HD soounds formats you are missing out big-time people. Trust me I know, because I was one of the ones missing out big-time!

Its about time right?! I remember when I first bought my PS3 back in 2006 I didn't own an HDTV but bought one shortly and was amazed by the picture quality. However, I didn't have surround sound but finally bought one a couple years ago. It makes all the difference in the world for movie buffs like us.

I'd love to get any kind of sound system to support my viewing experience. I watch my movies at night when everyone is asleep so even if I could afford any type of sound system, I can't really buy it because it would unfortunately wake everyone up because it would be too loud. So sadly I only use the TV speakers, but try to make it as loud and as clear as possible. I can get some good results even with TV speakers, but I know internally it is NOTHING compared to having surround sound like the OP.

I love my set-up although it is nothing compared to other's on this site but it still does a great job.
I have a mate who is into Blu-ray's but his wife is really against the whole surround sound thing so when I go to his to watch a film even though I enjoy it I can't help feel we are missing out on the proper experience.
Something he would mentioned but it certainly make's me appreciate what I have more.

That's the good. The bad will be when you get used to the sound of lossless audio and then have to go back to a lossy track for some reason. It's going to sound so tinny and lifeless by comparison and you'll actually have a tinge of regret because that DVD-level sound seemed so good before, but now, you can't go back.

I am more impressed by the sound on blu-rays than the picture. You should give Master and Commander, Saving Private Ryan, Tron Legacy and Prometheus a play...those are some of my favorites

Nothing beats watching a Blu-ray (with 10/10 pq) on a Big Screen TV with surround sound.

Thumbs up

When I watched and heard my new system for the first time I literally almost cried because I have waited a lifetime to finally get what I hoped to have but never thought was going to happen, then I came into a little money and bought my system.
I truly appreciate what I have every time I watch a Blu.
Good for you for your excellent choice.

Once you go lossless there's no turning back. I remember my first BD on my 7.1 system was 3:10 to Yuma and it blew me away.

I am currently using a Sony HTIB. I keep hearing amazing things about component setups. Is it really that much of a difference? And can a great setup be had at a decent prices? 5-600$?

I personaly have never seen a HTIB that can rival a good component setup (mind you I haven't listened to many). It's like night and day in some instances. You can't get much for 5-600$.
