United Kingdom How I Ended This Summer

New Wave Films will release How I Ended This Summer on 12th September 2011.

Quote:
WINNER 2010 LONDON FILM FESTIVAL - BEST FILM

A polar station on a desolate island in the Arctic Ocean - Sergei, a seasoned meteorologist, and Pavel, a recent college graduate, are spending months in complete isolation on the once strategic research base. Pavel receives an important radio message and is still trying to find the right moment to tell Sergei, but his innate fear of the older man prevents him passing on the message. From this deception, lies and suspicions start poisoning the atmosphere that leads to a suspense-filled climax . The actors Sergei Puskepalis and Grigory Dobrygin were jointly awarded the Best Actor Prize in this year’s Berlin Film Festival for their performances as two men forced to carve out a relationship of trust and, ultimately, forgiveness in the desolate Russian Arctic.
How I Ended This Summer (Kak Ya Provel Etim Letom - Как я провел этим летом) is a visually stunning existentialist drama of survival, entirely filmed on location at one of the remotest and bleakest places in the world.

WINNER OF 2 SILVER BEARS BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL 2010
BEST ACTOR (Grigory Dobrygin and Sergei Puskepalis) &
OUTSTANDING ARTISTIC CONTRIBUTION (DoP Pavel Kostomarov)

GOLDEN HUGO - BEST FILM Chicago Film Festival

Watched this and loved it!

Nice Blu-ray too by the looks of things http://homecinema.thedigitalfix.com/content/id/74394/ Need to look for a good price.

Really liked the diector's Koktebel so the good feeling I had for Summer was well founded.

Got this. 1080i. Not sure how/why that might be (it is shot on Red One) but it looks lovely to my eye. Disc review http://homecinema.thedigitalfix.com/content/id/74394/

I think it's locked to B (it's one of those rare discs where my black magic multiregion mojo trick on the USA Sony BDP-S1 doesn't work (as the player locks to "STILL")) but it does have PAL content so you'll need an all-standard player if you're in North America or play it back on any PC of course.

I really like what the Australians have done with their artwork -removing the polar bear actually makes it look more interesting to me.

This along with Snowtown and Monsters are my real finds for the year. Great films.

Just wanted to say that I loved this film. Stunning cinematography. One of the best films I've seen recently. Highly recommended!

Out of interest are all copies of this in the slimmer American style Amaray cases ?

I received my copy the other day and it was slimline.

Some people don't seem to appreciate the subtlety of the film:
